Bagdad Portable Lamp
First conceived in 1954 by Mathieu Matégot, the Bagdad Lamp translates his mastery of perforated metal into an arresting sculptural object. Its geometric, cubist composition—accentuated by a trailing, comet-like fin—renders the lamp at once whimsical and enduring. The contemporary edition is refined for modern living: reduced to half the original scale and engineered for portability. Rechargeable and equipped with a touch-sensitive dimmer offering three brightness settings, it is offered in Black, White, and International Orange. The Bagdad thus enriches GUBI’s Matégot collection and the brand’s expanding range of untethered lighting.
