A worker from UTE Es Vedrà, the company responsible for the urban cleaning service in Sant Josep, has died while carrying out his duties in Ibiza.

The worker, identified as Antonio, became unwell while operating a street-sweeping machine near the Ibiza Penitentiary Centre on Sunday morning. Police and emergency services rushed to the scene and attempted to assist him, but he could not be saved.

Antonio was carrying out his normal cleaning duties when he suddenly suffered an indisposition while driving the sweeping vehicle.

Emergency services and officers from the local police responded quickly after the incident was reported and attempted to provide assistance and resuscitation.

Despite those efforts, the worker died at the scene.

Some local reports state that Antonio was 61 years old and had worked for UTE Es Vedrà for more than 35 years.

The exact medical cause of death has not been officially confirmed. Reports describing a possible heart attack remain an initial hypothesis, rather than an established cause.
