A satirical video by content creator Hugo Gruzman pokes fun at summer airport experiences, prompting passengers to share complaints about boarding queues, airport services, bus transfers and high prices.

A humorous video imagining the person responsible for designing Ibiza Airport has sparked a wave of online reactions, with passengers sharing their own frustrations about travelling through the island during the busy summer season.

The parody was created by Hugo Gruzman, a painter and humour content creator known online as @hugeaux and @u_go_b. In the video, he plays an imaginary airport designer who explains the supposed logic behind a series of deliberately absurd decisions.

The sketch has resonated with viewers because many of its scenarios resemble complaints that passengers have shared about their experiences at the airport.

Expensive Food and Absurd Airport Decisions

The video opens with the fictional designer describing his ambition to create “the most expensive place on Earth” while making it resemble a bus shelter.

Among the exaggerated examples are a €15 ham sandwich, a €10 orange juice and a Burger King restaurant described as a cemetery at the far end of the airport.

The sketch also jokes about removing paper towels from toilets, confusing boarding arrangements and passengers being transferred to aircraft by bus while waiting in the sun.

These scenarios are presented as satire. The prices and situations used in the video should not be interpreted as a verified or comprehensive account of current airport services.

Passengers Share Their Own Experiences

The comments beneath the video have become a place for travellers to recount their experiences, with bus transfers attracting particular criticism.

Some users describe long waits in exposed areas, a lack of air conditioning during transfers and queues before boarding buses. Others recount difficulties with toilets, overcrowded VIP lounge facilities and problems connecting to the airport's free Wi-Fi.

Additional comments refer to electronic passport gates, unclear boarding arrangements and announcements that passengers have struggled to understand.

Some travellers also complain about the airport's atmosphere during disruption, including reports of passengers sleeping on the floor during flight cancellations.

These accounts reflect individual experiences shared online. They have not been independently verified as a complete picture of airport conditions, and the comments alone do not establish how frequently the reported problems occur.

Not Everyone Agrees With the Criticism

The discussion has also attracted more positive responses. Some commenters argue that Ibiza Airport performs better than other European airports, while others suggest that passenger behaviour contributes to congestion and disorder.

The range of reactions illustrates how differently travellers can experience the same airport, particularly during the island's peak tourist season.

The Debate Over Ibiza Airport's Future

The video has circulated amid wider discussion about the future of Ibiza Airport and proposals for its expansion.

For some viewers, the parody raises a broader question about whether improvements to the existing passenger experience should take priority over increasing the airport's capacity.

The distinction is important: addressing practical issues such as signage, queues, toilets, Wi-Fi and boarding arrangements is not the same as deciding whether the airport should accommodate more passengers.

The video itself does not provide technical evidence about airport performance or establish the scale of any operational shortcomings. Instead, it uses humour to bring together frustrations that passengers say they have experienced.

Its popularity highlights the sensitivity surrounding the airport, an essential transport link for residents and visitors that also sits at the centre of wider conversations about tourism, infrastructure and the island's future.
