Mallorca is set for a warm and mostly settled start to astronomical autumn, with temperatures remaining around 30°C as summer officially gives way to a new season.

The latest forecasts indicate little immediate change in the weather pattern, meaning visitors and residents can expect several more days of warm conditions across the island.

Autumn Begins on Wednesday

Astronomical autumn begins in the Balearic Islands at 02:05 on Wednesday, September 23.

Despite the seasonal change, the weather is not expected to shift significantly at first.

AEMET forecasts generally mild and warm conditions continuing through the first days of autumn, with only a limited possibility of rain.  

Temperatures Stay Around 30°C

Palma is forecast to reach around 30°C on Monday, September 21, rising to approximately 31°C on Tuesday.

Temperatures are then expected to remain close to 30°C on Wednesday, although local variations across Mallorca mean some inland areas can be warmer.

The current forecast remains consistent with a late-summer pattern rather than a marked arrival of cooler autumn weather.  

Inland Mallorca Could Be Warmer

Temperatures can vary considerably across the island depending on location.

The latest forecast prepared before Monday put maximum temperatures at around 32°C in areas including Binissalem, Pollença and Porreres, while Palma was also forecast to reach 32°C in that earlier update.  

More recent AEMET data for Palma indicate a slightly lower maximum, demonstrating why weather reports can change as forecasts are updated.

Mostly Sunny Conditions

The immediate outlook remains predominantly dry and settled.

Monday is forecast to bring little cloud and no significant rainfall, while Tuesday should also remain largely dry.

Wednesday could see some daytime cloud development over Mallorca, with isolated light showers possible during the afternoon.  

Recent Weekend Was Warm Too

The warm conditions have continued through the final weekend of astronomical summer.

AEMET observations show that Palma reached 29.1°C on Sunday, September 20, while Palma Airport recorded 28.9°C. No rainfall was recorded at either station that day.  

The temperatures followed a cooler and wetter spell earlier in September before conditions settled again.

Autumn Does Not Mean an Immediate Cooldown

For Mallorca, the arrival of astronomical autumn does not automatically signal the end of warm weather.

The current forecast suggests that temperatures will remain close to typical late-summer levels during the first few days of the new season, with daytime highs around 29°C to 31°C in Palma and potentially higher in some inland locations.  

The island can therefore continue experiencing beach-friendly weather even after the seasonal change.

Sea and Outdoor Activities

The continued warm temperatures are likely to maintain conditions suitable for outdoor activities during the early part of autumn.

The Majorca Daily Bulletin highlighted swimming, boat trips and mountain hiking among activities that remain attractive at this time of year, although conditions can vary depending on wind, cloud and local temperatures.
