The chef challenged the online backlash against his wife during an appearance on El Hormiguero, asking who decides who can become a DJ. Pedroche also announced that she will perform again at StreetXO Madrid on 29 October.

Chef Dabiz Muñoz and television presenter Cristina Pedroche appeared together on Antena 3's El Hormiguero on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, where they discussed Pedroche's recent debut as a DJ at the end-of-season celebration at StreetXO Ibiza.

Pedroche performed at the restaurant's closing party on Sunday, 11 October, marking her first appearance behind the DJ decks at the Ibiza venue. Her new venture attracted attention on social media, including criticism from people questioning her move into electronic music.

During the television interview, Muñoz defended his wife and challenged the idea that people should be prevented from exploring a new profession simply because they come from a different background.

Dabiz Muñoz Questions Who Decides Who Can Be a DJ

Responding to the criticism directed at Pedroche, Muñoz asked: “¿Quién reparte los carnés de DJ?”, meaning, “Who hands out DJ licences?”

The chef compared the situation with his own profession, pointing out that many people enter the culinary world from other disciplines. He argued that people should be encouraged to try new activities rather than face personal attacks for doing so.

Muñoz also drew a comparison with his own padel instructor, who had worked in a restaurant as a cook. He questioned whether it would be fair to insult someone simply because they were entering a profession different from their original field.

His message was that trying a new career or creative activity should not automatically invite hostility. At the same time, he acknowledged that pursuing a new discipline does not guarantee that someone will succeed at it.

Cristina Pedroche Reflects on Her First DJ Set in Ibiza

Pedroche explained that she had spent weeks preparing for the performance, practising at home and receiving guidance from Ibiza DJ Sebastián Gamboa.

She described the experience as a challenge that had ultimately been worthwhile, expressing pride in having taken the opportunity and saying she believed the performance had gone well.

Gamboa, who helped her prepare for the set, supported her during the event. Pedroche described his encouragement as a privilege, particularly given his experience in the music industry.

The presenter also addressed the negative reactions she had received online. Her debut had attracted both criticism and messages of support, and she made clear that she intended to continue exploring this new interest.

Pedroche Will Perform Again at StreetXO Madrid

During the same television appearance, Muñoz announced that Pedroche would return to the DJ decks at StreetXO Madrid on 29 October 2026.

The announcement was welcomed by the studio audience and by Pedroche herself, confirming that her Ibiza appearance was not intended to be a one-off experience.

Her first set took place at StreetXO Ibiza, the restaurant associated with Muñoz at Ibiza Gallery in Platja d'en Bossa, during its end-of-season celebration.

The Madrid performance will give Pedroche another opportunity to develop her skills and continue her new musical venture.

A Debate About Criticism and Trying Something New

Pedroche's debut has prompted a wider discussion about public criticism, professional boundaries and whether people should be encouraged to explore new creative interests.

Muñoz used the interview to argue that constructive criticism is different from personal insults and that people entering a new field deserve the opportunity to learn.

For Pedroche, the Ibiza performance marked the beginning of a new experience outside her established television career. Her upcoming appearance at StreetXO Madrid suggests that she intends to continue pursuing it.
