An airport suspended in time becomes the setting for a theatrical exploration of migration, memory and identity when CASA arrives at the Centre Cultural de Jesús on Saturday 21 November 2026. The production by international theatre platform Ministerio Sin Fronteras will be presented at 20:00, using theatre, live music and a transforming stage environment to explore what it means to leave one place behind and search for somewhere to call home.
The story follows a man trapped in an airport as he attempts to navigate a series of seemingly absurd bureaucratic controls. Before beginning his journey, he receives news that changes the course of his experience, causing memories of the past and events in the present to overlap.
Rather than treating migration solely as a physical journey between countries, CASA approaches it as an intimate experience shaped by uncertainty, identity, memory and belonging.
An airport becomes a space for reflection
The production uses an airport as its central setting, transforming the familiar environment of travel and border controls into a theatrical space in which the protagonist confronts his own memories and sense of identity.
Through live music and a stage design that changes during the performance, the production explores the uncertainty of leaving a familiar place, the memories people carry with them and the search for a new sense of home.
At the centre of the work is a question that extends beyond the experience of migration: what does it mean to have a home?
From Buenos Aires and São Paulo to Ibiza
CASA began its international journey in Buenos Aires before continuing with a season in São Paulo, including special performances at the Museu da Imigração.
Its Spanish tour includes performances in Valencia on 13, 14 and 15 November at La Máquina Teatro, followed by the Ibiza date at the Centre Cultural de Jesús on 21 November.
The production connects Argentina, Brazil and Spain through a creative process focused on migration, identity and memory.
An international Latin American creative team
CASA is a production by Ministerio Sin Fronteras, an international performing arts platform formed by Latin American artists and based in Argentina and Brazil. The collective has spent more than eight years developing interdisciplinary projects combining theatre, music, performance and documentary elements.
The original concept for CASA was created by Marian del Castillo, Abel García and María Brighenti.
The cast features Angélica Montilla, Abel García and Diego Martínez, who also performs the music on stage. María Brighenti directs the production and shares the dramaturgy with Abel García. Del Castillo is responsible for the artistic direction, set design and costumes.
The wider creative team includes Junior Eliseo in stage technology, Murilo Goes in lighting design, Cecilia Sparks in audiovisual work and editing, Santiago de Cruz in sound editing and Andrea López in digital design and motion graphics.
A wider programme exploring migration and creativity
Ministerio Sin Fronteras also develops other projects addressing migration and identity. Its work includes MIGRANTES, a production aimed at children and teenagers that premiered at the Buenos Aires International Book Fair in 2026, as well as MALA, another production in the company's repertoire.
The collective also works with Plástica Escénica workshops, exploring the body, objects, materials and space as tools for interdisciplinary artistic creation.
CASA has received support from Impulso Cultural–Mecenazgo de Buenos Aires and Iberescena 2026, under its co-production category.
