64-Year-Old German Man Remains Critical After Drowning Incident at Llevant Beach in Formentera

A 64-year-old German man remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit at Hospital Can Misses in Ibiza after being rescued from the water at Llevant Beach in Formentera.

The incident happened on Sunday, October 4, at around 13:20, when the man was rescued from the sea by the beach lifeguards.

Lifeguards Begin CPR

After removing the man from the water, the lifeguards immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation while waiting for the emergency medical teams to arrive.

An advanced life support unit from SAMU 061 was dispatched to the beach. When the medical team arrived, the man was in cardiorespiratory arrest.

The emergency team continued advanced CPR and managed to recover his pulse.

Airlifted to Can Misses

Given the seriousness of his condition, the patient was evacuated by a SAMU 061 medicalised helicopter from Formentera to Hospital Can Misses in Ibiza.

He was admitted to the hospital's intensive care unit, where he remains in critical condition as of Monday, October 5.

A basic life support ambulance was also involved in the emergency response, alongside the advanced life support unit and the medicalised helicopter.

Latest Condition

The latest information available indicates that the man's condition remains critical, with no further details released regarding his medical evolution.

The case follows a serious emergency response on Llevant Beach in which the rapid intervention of the lifeguards and subsequent work by the SAMU 061 medical team succeeded in recovering the man's pulse before his transfer to Ibiza.

The patient remains under intensive medical care at Hospital Can Misses.
