23-Year-Old Detained in Ibiza After Drugs and More Than €6,000 Found Hidden in Rental Car

01 de October de 2026

A 23-year-old man has been detained in Sant Josep de sa Talaia on suspicion of drug trafficking after the Guardia Civil allegedly found a large quantity of drugs and more than €6,000 in cash hidden inside a rental car.

The incident took place on the night of Friday, September 25, when Guardia Civil officers were carrying out a security checkpoint in Sant Josep.

According to the Guardia Civil, the driver was of Turkish origin and held Dutch nationality. Officers stopped the rental vehicle after reportedly noticing signs of nervousness from the driver.

Drugs found hidden in the dashboard

During the vehicle inspection, officers noticed that one of the plastic panels underneath the dashboard appeared to have been previously manipulated.

When they removed the panel, they allegedly discovered a bag containing multiple substances divided into individual doses that the Guardia Civil said were prepared for sale and distribution.

The substances listed by the Guardia Civil were:

  • 17 glass containers containing tusi

  • 18 glass containers containing cocaine

  • 260 ecstasy tablets

  • 28 doses of ketamine

  • 23 doses of crystal MDMA

  • 10 doses of LSD

  • Several sildenafil tablets

  • Three 100-millilitre bottles of GHB

The authorities subsequently carried out a more extensive inspection of the vehicle.

More than €6,000 found in another hidden compartment

A second concealed compartment was reportedly discovered elsewhere in the rental car.

Inside was another bag containing more than €6,000 in cash.

The drugs and money were seized as evidence in the suspected drug-trafficking case, according to the Guardia Civil.

Detainee placed at the disposal of the court

The 23-year-old was detained on suspicion of drug trafficking and subsequently placed at the disposal of the Tribunal de Instancia de Eivissa, Section of Instruction, on duty.

The court will determine the next steps in the judicial proceedings.

At this stage, the reported allegations remain subject to the judicial process, and the man's detention does not establish guilt.

The operation comes as authorities continue security and drug-trafficking controls on the island, particularly during the final weeks of the 2026 tourist season.
