Romain Pissenem, the French creative producer behind the visual and stage productions of major electronic music shows in Ibiza and around the world, has received the title of Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France.

The distinction recognises Pissenem's career in artistic production and his contribution to large-scale shows combining music, technology, stage design and visual production.

A Career Closely Connected to Ibiza

Pissenem is the founder of High Scream, the creative production company through which he has developed shows and stage productions for international artists and major events.

His work has been closely associated with Ibiza, particularly through productions connected with Ushuaïa Ibiza, Hï Ibiza and UNVRS.

Rather than appearing in front of the audience, Pissenem's work largely takes place behind the scenes, bringing together scenography, lighting, visual effects, stage design and other production elements that shape the overall experience of a show.

Pissenem began his career in theatre before moving increasingly into electronic music and large-scale live production.

Paris 2024

One of the most prominent recent projects associated with Pissenem was the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

He served as show director for the ceremony at the Stade de France, working on a production that brought together electronic music, large-scale staging and visual elements.

The ceremony featured 24 French electronic artists, with musical direction by Victor Le Masne.

Recognition in France

Pissenem received the French cultural distinction in September 2026.

In his own message following the recognition, he reflected on his journey from his childhood in a small French town through years of creating shows, taking risks, travelling and developing new projects.

He also thanked France's prime minister for the honour.

His brother Yann Pissenem publicly congratulated him, describing the recognition as a tribute to the passion and dedication Romain has invested in his work over the years.
