The Balearic Islands enjoyed a warm and largely stable weekend, but the weather is becoming more unsettled as the region moves into the final days of September.

The latest forecasts show a change from the mostly clear conditions expected earlier in the weekend, with more cloud developing across Ibiza and Formentera and a possibility of rain increasing into Monday.

Ibiza Turns Cloudier

AEMET's latest forecast for Ibiza shows a clear change in conditions between Sunday and Monday.

Sunday began with clearer skies, but cloud is expected to increase during the afternoon. Monday is forecast to be very cloudy, with a possibility of light rain.

The maximum temperature in Ibiza is expected to remain around 28°C on Sunday and Monday, keeping temperatures relatively high for late September.

The latest Ibiza forecast gives a 45% probability of precipitation during Monday afternoon and 35% during the evening.

Formentera Also Sees More Cloud

Formentera is following a similar pattern.

AEMET's beach forecast for Cala Saona shows increasingly cloudy conditions on Sunday afternoon, followed by very cloudy skies on Monday.

The change does not currently come with a coastal weather warning, and AEMET's latest marine forecast lists no active warnings for the Balearic coastal areas.

Warm Sea Temperatures

Despite the change in atmospheric conditions, the sea remains warm.

AEMET's latest forecast for Ibiza's beaches puts the water temperature at around 27-28°C, while daytime temperatures remain close to 30°C in some locations.

This means that the Balearics remain warm by late-September standards, even as cloud cover increases.

Weekend Winds and Sea Conditions

The earlier forecast for the weekend highlighted generally stable conditions across the islands, with stronger northerly winds expected to affect the northwest of Mallorca and areas around Menorca.

Those exposed areas could see waves exceeding one metre, particularly along more exposed stretches of coast.

Ibiza and Formentera were expected to remain comparatively sheltered, with generally calmer sea conditions.
