Formentera Launches Eighth Cycle of Talks for Families and Teachers With Session on the Adolescent Brain

22 de September de 2026

Formentera is preparing to launch the eighth edition of its “Charlas para familias y docentes”, a programme designed to give families and education professionals practical tools for supporting children and teenagers.

The new cycle begins on Thursday, September 24, with an opening session dedicated to understanding the adolescent brain, including the emotional, social and behavioural changes that can occur during this stage of development.

First Session on September 24

The opening talk will take place on Thursday, September 24, from 17:00 to 19:00.

The session will be held in the Plenary Hall of the Consell Insular de Formentera, at the Centre de Dia in Sant Francesc.

Attendance is limited and advance registration is required.

Understanding the Adolescent Brain

The first session will look at how the brain develops and matures during adolescence and how this can influence behaviour.

Topics will include impulsivity, the search for greater independence and the tendency to seek out new experiences.

The session is intended to help adults understand some of the changes associated with adolescence and respond to them with greater awareness.

Communication, Trust and Respect

The programme will also explore ways of strengthening communication between adults and teenagers.

Families will be offered strategies based on trust and respect, with the aim of creating a more open environment in which young people can discuss their experiences and concerns.

The session will also consider the importance of emotions and relationships during adolescence.

Setting Appropriate Boundaries

Another part of the opening talk will focus on setting limits.

The programme proposes a balance between firmness and affection when establishing boundaries, with the intention of giving families practical approaches for situations that can arise at home.

The organisers also want participants to leave with resources they can use when dealing with everyday disagreements and conflicts.

Anna Forés Leads the Opening Talk

The first session will be led by Anna Forés.

Forés is a pedagogue and doctor in Philosophy and Education Sciences and specialises in education and neuroeducation.

She works as a professor and researcher and has focused on bringing knowledge about the brain, learning and personal development into educational and family settings.

Her work combines academic knowledge with practical approaches for families and educators.

A Programme for Families and Teachers

The eighth cycle is organised by the Social Welfare Department of the Consell de Formentera in collaboration with the Centre de Professorat de Formentera.

The programme is designed for both families and professionals working in education.

Its wider objective is to strengthen educational skills and provide resources for dealing with different stages of childhood and adolescence.

Prevention Is Also a Key Focus

The programme also addresses the prevention of problematic behaviours.

Among the areas identified by the organisers are bullying and drug consumption, alongside other situations that can affect children and teenagers.

The talks are intended to create spaces where families and professionals can receive information, reflect on their experiences and exchange ideas.

Practical Resources for Everyday Situations

Rather than focusing exclusively on theory, the sessions are intended to provide practical strategies that can be applied in everyday family and educational settings.

Communication, conflict management, emotions and healthy relationships form part of the broader approach.

The aim is to help adults better understand children's and teenagers' needs while giving them tools to respond to different situations.

Attendance and Registration

All sessions in the cycle will be held in the Plenary Hall of the Consell Insular de Formentera and will have limited capacity.

Advance registration is required through the Social Welfare Department.

Families and education professionals can reserve a place by contacting educaciosocial@conselldeformentera.cat or calling 971 321 271.
