Shakira surprised fans in Madrid on Friday, September 25, when Alejandro Sanz joined her on stage during the fourth concert of her 12-date residency at Macondo Park.

The two artists reunited to perform “La Tortura”, their 2005 collaboration, in front of an audience reported at around 55,000 people.

Alejandro Sanz Appears as Surprise Guest

The identity of Shakira's special guest had remained unknown before the concert.

The surprise came midway through the show when the opening lines of “La Tortura” began. Sanz then appeared on stage with his guitar as Shakira welcomed him in front of the crowd.

The performance marked their latest reunion after a musical partnership that dates back more than two decades.

“La Tortura” Returns to the Stage

Originally released in 2005, “La Tortura” became one of the best-known collaborations between Shakira and Sanz.

The song formed part of Shakira's album Fijación Oral Vol. 1 and has remained closely associated with both artists.

Their performance in Madrid brought the song back into the spotlight as part of Shakira's current Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour.

A Second Special Guest in the Madrid Residency

Sanz is the second special guest to join Shakira during the Madrid residency.

Laura Pausini appeared during the third concert, adding an unexpected guest performance to the residency's format.

The appearances also underline that the Madrid shows are not necessarily identical from one night to the next, with special guests providing additional moments beyond the main concert programme.

More Than 20 Years of Music and Friendship

Shakira and Alejandro Sanz have maintained a professional and personal friendship for more than 20 years.

Their relationship became especially well known through “La Tortura” and their continued public support for one another over the years.

Following Friday's concert, Sanz shared photographs from the evening and praised Shakira's performance and the atmosphere at the event.

Shakira's Madrid Residency Continues

Shakira's Madrid residency consists of 12 concerts and forms part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour.

Macondo Park, created within the Iberdrola Music venue in Villaverde, surrounds the concerts with additional cultural and entertainment activities.

The residency continues through October 11, giving Madrid audiences several more opportunities to see the Colombian singer perform in the capital.
