When Can You Get the Flu Vaccine in Ibiza? 2026-27 Dates and Who Can Get Vaccinated

01 de October de 2026

The Balearic Islands' 2026-27 flu vaccination campaign begins on Monday, October 5, with vaccination teams heading to schools, care homes and people receiving home care.

For the general population, vaccination will open two weeks later, from Monday, October 19.

The new campaign also expands the age range for children and introduces vaccination against respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, for certain vulnerable adults.

October 5: Schools, care homes and home care

From October 5, health teams will begin administering flu vaccines in second-cycle infant education classes, residential care facilities for older people and people with disabilities, and to patients receiving home care.

In Ibiza, vaccination teams will visit 43 schools, while four schools in Formentera are included in the programme.

The school programme is aimed at children aged 3 to 5 in the second cycle of infant education, with parental consent required. Around 27,000 children across the Balearic Islands are expected to be offered vaccination through the school programme.

Teachers and other school employees, including administrative and cleaning staff, will also be offered the vaccine when the vaccination team visits their school.

The same teams will visit residential care facilities to vaccinate institutionalised residents.

October 19: Vaccination opens to everyone

From Monday, October 19, flu vaccination will be available to the entire population of the Balearic Islands, regardless of whether someone belongs to one of the usual risk groups.

Appointments can be requested through Espai Salut, by calling Infosalut Connecta on 971 220 000, or in person at a health centre.

People belonging to eligible risk groups may also be offered vaccination when they attend their health centre for another reason.

Children: vaccination expanded to age 11

One of the main changes for the 2026-27 campaign is the expansion of the children's vaccination programme.

The eligible age range has been extended from children aged 6 months to 7 years in the previous campaign to children aged 6 months through 11 years this season.

Children in the second cycle of infant education who are not vaccinated at school can also receive the vaccine once the wider campaign opens on October 19.

Who is included among the priority groups?

From October 19, vaccination is available to the general population, including people in groups for whom flu vaccination is specifically recommended.

These include:

  • Pregnant women and women who have recently given birth and were not vaccinated during pregnancy

  • Children aged 6 months to 11 years

  • People aged 11 to 59 with specified medical risk conditions

  • Healthcare and social-care workers

  • Carers and people living with individuals at particular risk

  • Essential public-service workers, including firefighters, police, security forces and Civil Protection

  • Teachers

  • Certain veterinary, agricultural and environmental workers with direct exposure to birds or pigs

The risk groups include people with conditions such as diabetes, severe obesity, chronic cardiovascular, neurological or respiratory diseases, chronic kidney disease, immunosuppression and cancer, among others.

New this year: RSV protection for vulnerable adults

The 2026-27 campaign also introduces RSV immunisation for certain vulnerable adults.

From October 5, people aged 60 and over who are living in residential care homes or socio-healthcare facilities will be offered protection against RSV.

Certain adults aged 18 and over with very high-risk conditions are also eligible, including some people who have undergone stem-cell, CAR-T or solid-organ transplantation, or who are waiting for an organ transplant.

RSV protection for babies is also being expanded. From October 1, newborn babies in the Balearic Islands will receive the monoclonal antibody before leaving hospital, with the programme continuing through March 31, 2027. Health centres will also begin contacting babies born between April 1 and September 30, 2026, from October 5.

How many vaccines have been prepared?

The Balearic Health Ministry has acquired 289,090 flu vaccine doses for the 2026-27 campaign, together with 15,500 doses of monoclonal antibodies for RSV protection.

During the previous 2025-26 campaign, 219,096 people across the Balearic Islands received a flu vaccination. Of these, 21,995 were vaccinated in Ibiza and Formentera, while 180,451 were vaccinated in Mallorca and 16,650 in Menorca.

For residents in Ibiza and Formentera, the main dates are:
