Ibiza PSOE Calls for Municipal Aid to Businesses Affected by 2025 DANA

03 de October de 2026

The PSOE municipal group in Ibiza Town has called on the city government to activate a municipal aid programme for businesses affected by the flooding caused by the DANA that hit the island in September and October 2025.

The socialist group says the aid line was approved unanimously by Ibiza Town Council's plenary session on 30 October 2025, but claims that, one year later, the measure has still not been implemented.

The request comes as the first anniversary of the severe weather episodes approaches and the municipality has been highlighting measures adopted to improve its response to future emergencies.

PSOE Asks for Details on the Aid Process

Socialist councillor Pep Tur has criticised the municipal government led by mayor Rafael Triguero, arguing that the council has not fulfilled the agreement approved by the plenary.

The PSOE is asking the government to explain what administrative procedures have been carried out since the agreement was approved, how many affected businesses have received municipal assistance and when the proposed aid programme is expected to be put into operation.

The party says the proposed support was intended for commercial, industrial and service establishments affected by the flooding.

The PSOE has also questioned the contrast between the municipality's current focus on emergency prevention and response capacity and the unresolved financial support for businesses affected by the 2025 flooding. These are the party's criticisms of the municipal government's handling of the issue.

Businesses Were Among Those Affected by the Flooding

The September 2025 DANA caused significant flooding in parts of Ibiza, affecting homes, roads and businesses.

In January 2026, Ibiza Town Hall itself acknowledged that the effects of the September 2025 DANA had added to the difficulties facing local shops, noting that many small businesses had been forced to close temporarily and had suffered economic losses.

A March 2026 survey by the local business association Pimeef also reported that 33% of the businesses surveyed said they had been affected by the heavy rainfall and flooding. That figure refers to the businesses participating in the survey, not to all businesses in Ibiza.

A Separate Issue from State DANA Assistance

The municipal aid requested by the PSOE should not be confused with state-level emergency assistance.

Spain has separate national mechanisms for certain losses caused by catastrophic events. The Ministry of the Interior, for example, provides information on assistance available to affected businesses under the national emergency framework, subject to eligibility requirements.

The issue raised by the PSOE concerns a specific municipal aid line approved by Ibiza Town Council, aimed at establishments affected by the 2025 flooding.

What the PSOE Is Asking For

The PSOE is calling on Mayor Rafael Triguero to explain publicly why the municipal measure has not been implemented, according to the group's statement.

The party is specifically seeking information on:

  • The administrative steps taken since the October 2025 plenary agreement

  • The number of affected businesses that have received municipal assistance

  • The expected timetable for launching the proposed aid

  • The reasons the measure has not yet been put into operation, according to the PSOE's account

The latest development is therefore a political demand for information and implementation, rather than the announcement of a new aid programme. The available information does not establish that the municipal government has formally cancelled the measure.

For businesses that suffered losses during the 2025 flooding, the question now centres on whether and when the municipal support agreed by the plenary will become available.
