Can Bonet Residents Mobilise Over Noise and Traffic Linked to Events at 528 Ibiza

03 de October de 2026

Residents of Can Bonet in Sant Antoni have intensified their campaign over the impact they say large events at nearby 528 Ibiza are having on their residential neighbourhood.

The residents' association says its latest campaign has collected more than 100 signatures in around an hour, while more than a dozen banners have appeared on balconies and façades around the area carrying messages including “Silence = Health”, “SOS. We Want to Sleep” and “Rest Is Not a Luxury, It Is a Right”.

The latest mobilisation follows renewed complaints after a large event held on 23 September. Residents say the event brought a significant increase in vehicles and pedestrians into the streets around Can Bonet, causing congestion and difficulties for residents trying to access the neighbourhood.

Residents Say the Problems Go Beyond Noise

According to the Can Bonet Residents' Association, the concerns extend beyond music and noise.

Residents say they have experienced noise late into the night, congested residential streets and the movement of buses, taxis and other vehicles through roads serving the neighbourhood. They have also reported litter, people urinating in public areas and other behaviour they consider disruptive.

The association says similar complaints have been raised over several seasons. In July 2024, residents reported problems including vehicles parked on pavements, difficulties with traffic and access, and people urinating in public areas. Similar concerns were raised again after 528 opened for the 2026 season.

The residents' latest campaign is therefore presented as an ongoing neighbourhood issue rather than a response to a single event.

Residents Say They Are Not Against Nightlife

The association has stressed that its campaign is not intended to oppose Ibiza's leisure and tourism economy.

Instead, residents say they want large-scale leisure activity to coexist with the residential character of Can Bonet and allow people living in the area to maintain normal daily life.

“We are not against leisure; we want to be able to live in our neighbourhood,” the residents say.

Their demands include greater control and measures to prevent the effects of major events from being transferred to surrounding residential streets.

Calls for Inspections and Controls

Following the 23 September event, residents asked Sant Antoni Town Hall to carry out inspections and checks relating to 528.

Among their requests are controls of the venue's permitted capacity and operating hours, as well as measures addressing the effects of events outside the establishment.

Importantly, the residents' request for inspections does not establish that 528 exceeded its authorised capacity or operating hours. Those matters would need to be determined by the competent authorities through the relevant inspections.

Sant Antoni Town Hall's transparency portal also records a 2026 control motion concerning parties planned at 528 and the use of private security on public roads, showing that the issue has also been raised formally within the municipality.

A Wider Neighbourhood Concern

The latest mobilisation comes after residents raised other concerns about Can Bonet's infrastructure and day-to-day conditions.

In September, the residents' association separately called for improvements to pedestrian access, cleaning, waste collection, road maintenance and safety in the neighbourhood.

The association is now continuing its campaign over the impact it attributes to large leisure events, with banners and a signature collection being used to make the residents' concerns more visible.

For the residents, the central issue is finding a way for large events to continue without, in their view, transferring excessive noise, traffic and disruption into the surrounding residential streets.

Their message is simple: “Rest is also a right.”
