Formentera is marking Universal Children's Day with a month-long programme of cultural, educational and family activities, bringing theatre, storytelling, traditional music, cinema and opportunities for children and young people to participate in public life.
Organised by the Consell Insular de Formentera, the programme includes 10 activities taking place between 2 and 26 November, with events held in different locations across the island.
Universal Children's Day is celebrated internationally on 20 November, and Formentera's programme aims to highlight children's rights, encourage participation and create opportunities for families to enjoy cultural and educational experiences together.
Theatre, Talks and Activities for Children
The programme began on Monday 2 November with Vívete: Vides que inspiren vides, an initiative by Proyecto Juntos for students at IES Marc Ferrer. The activity took place at the Sala de Cultura (Cinema) during school hours.
The next event is scheduled for Thursday 5 November, at 17:00, when Alba Cardalda will present the talk Com enviar a la merda de forma educada at the Consell's plenary hall.
On Saturday 7 November, two activities will take place simultaneously at 18:00.
At the Casal de Joves, El rellotge i el temps will offer an interactive activity exploring the use of screens and their relationship with everyday life.
At the Sala de Cultura (Cinema), families can attend El viatge de la Nuru, a theatre performance by Companyia Festuc Teatre. The production forms part of the island's L'Illa a Escena programme, lasts approximately 60 minutes and has a listed ticket price of €5, with reduced admission available for eligible groups.
Storytelling and Traditional Music
On Wednesday 11 November, at 17:30, the Punt de Lectura de Sant Ferran will host La gallineta vermella, a storytelling session presented by Myotragus Teatre.
The activity is recommended for children aged two and above, offering a story-based experience for younger audiences.
Music takes centre stage on Saturday 14 November, when the group Batafaluga performs a family concert of traditional music at the Sala de Cultura (Cinema), starting at 18:00.
The performance is part of L'Illa a Escena, lasts approximately 55 minutes and has a listed ticket price of €5, with reduced admission available for eligible groups.
Cinema and Activities for Young People
The programme continues on Thursday 19 November, at 18:00, with a screening of La vida es bella at the Casal de Joves.
The film provides another cultural activity for young people as the island approaches the main Universal Children's Day celebrations.
Children's Participation Takes Centre Stage on 20 November
Friday 20 November marks the central date of the programme, coinciding with Universal Children's Day.
The XV Parlament Infantil will take place at 11:30 at the Parliament of the Balearic Islands.
The session provides a space for children to express their views and participate in discussions about issues affecting their lives and communities.
Further opportunities for participation are scheduled later in the month.
On Wednesday 25 November, at 10:00, the plenary session of the Consell de Participació de la Infància i la Joventut will take place in the Consell's plenary hall, next to the Centre de Dia in Formentera.
The meeting forms part of the island's participation framework, giving children and young people an opportunity to share their opinions on matters that concern them.
Final Talk on Emotional Responsibility and Relationships with Children
The programme concludes on Thursday 26 November with a talk by Julio Bonillo entitled La importància de la responsabilitat afectiva en la relació amb els infants.
