Ibiza and Formentera Public Holidays 2026: Remaining Dates and Long Weekends

October 13, 2026

With Spain's National Day on 12 October now passed, residents and workers in Ibiza and Formentera have just a few public holidays left before the end of 2026. The remaining calendar includes the December holidays, several local celebrations and opportunities to create longer breaks by taking annual leave strategically.

The official Balearic Islands calendar confirms that the next regional public holiday falling on a weekday is Tuesday, 8 December, for the Immaculate Conception. Christmas Day follows on Friday, 25 December, creating a three-day weekend.

Remaining Public Holidays in Ibiza and Formentera

The dates still to come in 2026 include regional and national holidays, as well as local celebrations that apply only to specific municipalities or parishes.

  • Saturday, 24 October: Sant Rafel, a local holiday in the parish of Sant Rafel, within the municipality of Sant Antoni.

  • Sunday, 1 November: All Saints' Day. The holiday falls on a Sunday and is not transferred to Monday.

  • Wednesday, 4 November: Sant Carles de Peralta, a local holiday in the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu.

  • Thursday, 3 December: Sant Francesc Xavier, a local holiday in Formentera.

  • Sunday, 6 December: Constitution Day. The holiday falls on a Sunday and is not transferred to Monday.

  • Tuesday, 8 December: Immaculate Conception, a public holiday across Spain.

  • Friday, 25 December: Christmas Day, a public holiday across Spain.

  • Saturday, 26 December: Second Christmas Day, a regional public holiday in the Balearic Islands.

Local holidays do not apply uniformly across the islands. Residents should check the calendar for their own municipality or parish, particularly when planning appointments, work schedules or travel.

Why There Is No November Bank Holiday Bridge

In some Spanish regions, workers will have a day off on Monday, 2 November, following All Saints' Day. The Balearic Islands have not moved the Sunday holiday to the following Monday.

The same applies to Constitution Day on Sunday, 6 December. Instead of transferring either holiday, the Balearic government included Monday, 2 March, following Balearic Islands Day, and Saturday, 26 December, in the 2026 regional holiday calendar.

As a result, Monday, 2 November, and Monday, 7 December, are ordinary working days unless an employer or another applicable arrangement provides time off.

December Offers the Best Opportunities for a Longer Break

The final month of the year provides several possibilities for combining public holidays with annual leave.

Christmas weekend

Christmas Day falls on Friday, 25 December, followed by Saturday, 26 December, which is also a regional public holiday. Together with Sunday, 27 December, this creates a three-day holiday weekend.

The December long weekend

Tuesday, 8 December, is a public holiday for the Immaculate Conception. Workers who can take Monday, 7 December, off could enjoy four consecutive days away from work, from Saturday, 5 December, to Tuesday, 8 December.

Formentera's December celebrations

Formentera has an additional local holiday on Thursday, 3 December, for Sant Francesc Xavier, the island's patron saint.

Workers who can take Friday, 4 December, and Monday, 7 December, as annual leave could combine the local holiday with the weekend and the 8 December public holiday to create six consecutive days off, from Thursday, 3 December, through Tuesday, 8 December.

These extended breaks depend on individual work arrangements and approved annual leave. The dates themselves are established by the official calendar, but additional days off are not automatic.

The First Public Holiday of 2027

Looking ahead, New Year's Day falls on Friday, 1 January 2027, giving workers another opportunity for a three-day weekend immediately after the Christmas period.

For residents planning the final months of 2026, the key dates to remember are 8 December and 25 December, alongside the local celebrations in Sant Rafel, Sant Carles de Peralta and Formentera.
