Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera is set to gain a new outdoor fitness area, with Santa Eulària des Riu Town Council beginning work on a calisthenics park opposite the local primary school. The project will provide five exercise structures and a rubber-surfaced training area designed for outdoor workouts.

The installation has a budget of €44,944.91, including VAT, and is expected to take four weeks to complete.

Where Will the New Calisthenics Park Be Located?

The new facility will be built in the green area on Carrer de Ses Escoles, directly opposite CEIP Santa Gertrudis, in the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu.

The site is within Santa Gertrudis's existing sports area. Once completed, it will add another option for residents looking to exercise outdoors.

Five Structures for Bodyweight Training

The project includes five calisthenics structures equipped with different elements for performing a range of exercises using primarily bodyweight resistance.

Calisthenics is a form of physical training that uses a person's own body weight to develop strength, balance, coordination and mobility. Depending on the equipment available, exercises can include pull-ups, dips, supported movements and other strength-building routines.

The planned installation will also include 130 square metres of continuous rubber flooring adapted to the requirements of this type of sports facility.

Four-Week Installation Period

Santa Eulària Town Council has allocated €44,944.91, including VAT, to the project. The work includes preparing and conditioning the ground before installing the exercise equipment and flooring.

The reported construction period is four weeks. The council has not confirmed a specific public opening date in the information available, so the facility should not yet be considered operational.

The project forms part of the municipality's provision of outdoor sports facilities, adding a dedicated space for bodyweight exercise in Santa Gertrudis.
