Solomun’s Free Ibiza Port Show Highlights a Different Side of the Island’s Club Culture

October 12, 2026

A free open-air performance by Solomun brought electronic music into the heart of Ibiza Town on September 23, offering a different experience from the island’s established nightclub scene. A first-person feature published by 1883 Magazine on October 12 has revisited the evening, highlighting the atmosphere around the historic port and the connection between music, local life and tourism.

An open-air show in the heart of Ibiza Town

The 11th edition of Solomun at the Port took place on Wednesday, September 23, from 19:00 to 23:00. The performance was free to attend, bringing Solomun’s music to the waterfront rather than the dancefloor of a nightclub.

The event forms part of a tradition dating back to 2014. Organised in association with Pacha Ibiza and local partners, it has become a recurring late-season fixture, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to experience the DJ in a public setting.

Unlike a conventional club event, the port provided an open backdrop of boats, waterfront businesses and Ibiza’s historic old town.

A different kind of Ibiza music experience

In her first-person account, writer Ama Samra described a crowd that included families, local residents, holidaymakers and electronic music fans. The feature also recounts how people gathered along the promenade, watched from nearby balconies and joined the atmosphere around the waterfront.

These observations offer a personal perspective on the event’s appeal beyond its musical programme. With no admission fee or conventional club entrance, the performance brought electronic music into a space shared with the wider city.

The setting also offered a contrast to Solomun’s regular performances at Pacha Ibiza, where his Solomun+1 residency follows a club format built around extended sets and one guest DJ.

Solomun’s continuing relationship with Ibiza

Solomun has maintained a long-standing connection with the island through his Pacha residency, which began in 2013. The free port performance represents a separate part of that relationship, taking his music outside the nightclub environment and into Ibiza Town itself.

The 2026 edition took place during the final weeks of the main summer season. Solomun+1 continued at Pacha Ibiza through October 4, with its own closing party scheduled for that date.

The two events serve different purposes: one is a ticketed club residency, while the other is a free outdoor gathering in a public waterfront setting.

Bringing music beyond the nightclub

Solomun at the Port illustrates another dimension of Ibiza’s electronic music culture. Alongside its internationally recognised clubs, the island also hosts events that place music within its streets, harbour and public spaces.

The September performance has now concluded, but the latest first-person feature offers another perspective on why the event has become a recurring part of Ibiza’s late-season calendar.

By taking electronic music beyond the walls of a nightclub, Solomun at the Port connects the island’s clubbing identity with the everyday life of Ibiza Town.
