Ibiza is set to host Spain's Under-21 national team on Tuesday, October 6, when La Rojita face Romania at Can Misses in the final match of their qualifying campaign for the 2027 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

Kick-off is scheduled for 7pm, with the fixture forming part of the centenary celebrations of the Federació de Futbol de les Illes Balears. The match was formally presented at Ibiza Town Hall on September 15.

Spain Arrive as Group A Leaders

Spain currently lead Group A with a perfect record of seven victories from seven matches.

When the fixture was announced, David Gordo's side had collected 21 points, scoring 26 goals and conceding just two. Spain held a five-point advantage over second-placed Finland and were eight points ahead of Romania.

The standings can still change before the Ibiza match because Spain have two fixtures to play first, away to Finland on September 25 and away to San Marino on October 1.

The Final Stop of the Qualifying Campaign

The Romania match will be Spain's final fixture in the qualifying phase for the 2027 European Under-21 Championship.

The Spanish federation said the team could potentially have qualification already secured before arriving in Ibiza, depending on the results of the September and October matches.

For Ibiza supporters, that means Can Misses will provide the backdrop for the conclusion of Spain's qualifying journey.

Can Misses Selected for the International Fixture

The match will be played at the municipal Can Misses stadium, home of UD Ibiza.

The decision to bring the Under-21 team to the island forms part of the centenary programme of the Balearic football federation, which has been organising events across the different islands during its 100th anniversary year.

FFIB president Jordi Horrach said the game in Ibiza was intended to recognise the contribution of football on the island to the federation's history.

David Gordo Calls Romania a Competitive Opponent

Spain Under-21 head coach David Gordo described Romania as a competitive and demanding opponent and said his team wanted to finish the qualifying campaign with a strong performance.

Gordo also highlighted the opportunity for young supporters in Ibiza to watch the national team and its players in person.

Following the official presentation, the coach visited CEIP Portal Nou, where he met pupils ahead of the team's arrival on the island.

Spain's Squad Will Arrive in Ibiza on October 2

According to the Spanish federation's schedule, the national team delegation is expected to arrive in Ibiza on October 2, following the match against San Marino.

That will give the squad several days on the island to prepare for the final qualifying fixture at Can Misses.

Tickets on Sale

Tickets for the match went on general sale on September 8 after an initial priority period for UD Ibiza season-ticket holders.

The standard price is €20, including the general and fondo sections, with a 50% early-purchase discount available for tickets bought before September 22. That means the promotional price is €10 during the current period. Accessible tickets are also available, with one accompanying person admitted free under the applicable conditions.

The Spanish federation has indicated that only a limited number of tickets remained following strong initial demand.

A Special Night for Ibiza Football

The Spain-Romania fixture will give football fans on the island the chance to see one of Spain's national youth teams playing competitively at Can Misses.

For the Balearic federation, it also forms part of a year of centenary celebrations designed to bring major football events to different islands.

With Spain currently top of Group A and the match serving as the final stop in the Euro 2027 qualifying campaign, Can Misses is set to host an important night for both Spanish youth football and Ibiza's sporting calendar.
