The Consell Insular d’Eivissa has launched a tender for a new 2.6-kilometre segregated cycle path connecting Ca na Negreta with es Puig d’en Valls. The project aims to improve links between existing cycling routes around Jesús, es Puig d’en Valls and the Sant Miquel road, creating a more continuous network for cyclists travelling through this part of Ibiza.
The planned infrastructure will measure 2,645 metres and run mainly along the left-hand side of the EI-300 road. The tender provides for a construction period of six months.
Where Will the New Cycle Path Run?
The route will extend between the elliptical junction connecting es Puig d’en Valls and Jesús and the crossing at Ca na Negreta. It will follow the EI-300 between kilometre points 1+925 and 4+130.
The project is intended to address gaps between cycle routes that have already been built in the surrounding area. Existing sections serve es Puig d’en Valls, the Jesús crossing and the road towards Sant Miquel, but interruptions between them currently make it harder to travel continuously by bicycle.
Once completed, the new section is expected to improve connections between Ca na Negreta, Jesús and es Puig d’en Valls, while linking into a wider network serving areas including Santa Gertrudis and Sant Miquel.
According to the project's supporting documentation, the infrastructure is intended to improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians and make it easier to reach public transport stops and other local facilities.
More Than €2.1 Million Allocated to the Project
The base tender budget is €2,093,093.21, including VAT.
Additional provisions include €21,095.48 for the 1.5% cultural allocation and €6,069.30 for land expropriations. This brings the total budget for the administration to €2,120,257.99.
The expenditure is divided across two budget years, with €78,904.52 allocated to 2026 and €2,014,188.69 to 2027.
Works May Be Suspended During the Summer Months
Although the planned construction period is six months, the tender documents allow for the works to be suspended temporarily, either in part or in full, between June and September inclusive.
This provision is intended to reduce disruption to traffic during Ibiza's busiest tourist season. The actual construction schedule will depend on the contract and how the works are organised.
The award criteria include the financial offer, as well as possible improvements relating to preliminary archaeological inspections, including any necessary test excavations or surveys, and the replacement of services affected by the construction. This also covers services that may not have been identified during the project design stage.
Part of a Wider Plan to Improve Cycling Connections in Ibiza
The Ca na Negreta to es Puig d’en Valls route forms part of wider efforts to develop a more connected cycling network across the island.
Existing infrastructure in the area has been built in separate sections, leaving gaps between residential centres and routes towards other parts of Ibiza. Completing these connections is intended to make cycling a more practical option for everyday journeys, rather than relying exclusively on private vehicles.
The contract is currently at the tender stage. The deadline for companies to submit their offers is 23 November 2026 at 14:00. The construction period is planned for six months, but the project must first progress through the procurement and award process.
When completed, the new route will provide an additional link between Ca na Negreta, Jesús and es Puig d’en Valls, strengthening cycling connections in the eastern part of Ibiza.
