Ibiza's Asian Food Scene Expands With Japanese, Thai, Indian and Fusion Flavours

September 12, 2026

Ibiza may be internationally associated with Mediterranean cuisine, but the island's food scene has developed an increasingly diverse Asian offering, ranging from Japanese sushi and omakase to Thai, Indian, Chinese, Korean and Peruvian Nikkei cuisine.

Across Ibiza Town, Playa d'en Bossa, Santa Eulalia, San Antonio and the north of the island, restaurants are bringing flavours and techniques from across Asia into very different settings, from relaxed local restaurants to high-end hotels and beachside venues.

Japanese Cuisine Leads the Way

Japanese food has become one of the strongest influences within Ibiza's Asian dining scene.

In Playa d'en Bossa, Minami Japanese Restaurant at Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel combines sushi with high-end teppanyaki and live cooking.

In Ibiza Town, Daruma focuses on ramen, while Wakame offers sushi and cocktails in a more intimate setting. Sushiya Aoyama takes a particularly refined approach with an omakase-style sushi counter.

Talamanca is home to Nobu Ibiza Bay, where Japanese cuisine is combined with Mediterranean surroundings and a seven-course Omakase experience, while CLAP HOUSE Ibiza takes a more fashion-led approach to Japanese fusion dining.

Thai and Indian Flavours

Thai and Indian restaurants also have a strong presence across the island.

Santa Eulalia is home to Jatayu Indian Experience, which combines Indian cooking with imported spices and harbour views, while Kathmandu offers Indian and Himalayan dishes at a more informal price point.

In the north, Ca Na Hathai in San Miguel focuses on Thai cuisine prepared by a Thai team, with traditional dishes including massaman curry.

In San Antonio Bay, Pom Thai brings traditional Thai recipes and cooking techniques to a poolside setting.

Indian cuisine is also represented in Playa d'en Bossa by Rosa India, where the menu combines Indian food with a cocktail-led atmosphere.

Ibiza's Growing Fusion Scene

One of the most interesting developments is the growth of fusion cuisine.

StreetXO Ibiza, opened in Playa d'en Bossa in 2026, brings chef Dabiz Muñoz's high-energy style to the island, with Korean influences appearing throughout the menu.

In San Antonio, Teyo at OKU Ibiza specialises in Nikkei cuisine, combining Japanese techniques with Peruvian influences.

Further south, Tigre Morado at Port des Torrent also focuses on Peruvian Nikkei cooking, served directly beside the beach.

IKISAKI at 7Pines Resort Ibiza is another recent addition, combining the flavours of Peru and Japan with sea views.

Omakase Comes to the Island

Omakase has become another notable trend within Ibiza's increasingly sophisticated Japanese restaurant scene.

Nagai Ibiza offers an Omakase experience led by chef Reina Nagai, while Tora at BLESS Ibiza Cala Nova has created a particularly intimate format with a seven-metre sushi counter seating only 12 people.

The summer 2026 pop-up offers a 17-course menu combining Japanese technique with Spanish and local Ibicencan ingredients.

In the north, Kuu Jū at Nômade Temple Ibiza follows the traditional omakase format, using seasonal produce and incorporating Mediterranean ingredients such as red prawns, citrus and local herbs.

Chinese and Vietnamese Options

Chinese cuisine also forms part of the island's expanding Asian offering.

Chi Kee Wun in San Antonio Bay combines Chinese fusion cooking with a garden setting, while Asian Road has a broader pan-Asian menu featuring bao buns, wok-fried noodles and sharing dishes.

Vietnamese food has also become more visible in Ibiza Town, with Miss Saigon and the newer Restaurante Vietnamita offering dishes such as pho, fresh spring rolls and bánh mì.

Asian Dining Beyond Ibiza Town

The island's Asian food scene extends well beyond the capital.

Santa Eulalia has developed a particularly strong selection, including Jatayu, Kathmandu, Asian Road and Bambuddha, the long-established MediterrAsian restaurant known for its combination of sushi, Thai curries and fusion dishes.

San Antonio and its bay also offer everything from Japanese cooking at Sushimi and Kojima to Chinese fusion at Chi Kee Wun and Thai food at Pom Thai.

Even smaller villages and more remote parts of the island are becoming part of the trend, with restaurants such as Restaurant Mei in San Carlos and Es Cafè Casa Pepe in San Vicente adding Japanese and Thai options respectively.

Asian Food Meets the Ibiza Lifestyle

What makes Ibiza's Asian food scene particularly distinctive is the way different cuisines are being adapted to the island's lifestyle.

A sushi restaurant can become a pool club, an omakase counter can sit inside a five-star resort, and traditional Thai cooking can be combined with sunset dining or Balearic music.

That combination of food, setting and atmosphere has helped Asian cuisine become a natural part of Ibiza's increasingly international restaurant scene.

A Growing Part of Ibiza's Gastronomy

The island's Asian food offering now covers an impressive range of styles and price points.

From affordable ramen and curry houses to luxury omakase, Nikkei tasting menus and high-energy fusion restaurants, there are options for almost every kind of diner.

The growth of this scene also reflects the changing character of Ibiza's gastronomy. The island remains deeply rooted in Mediterranean food traditions, but its restaurants increasingly draw inspiration from around the world.

For visitors looking to explore beyond paella, seafood and traditional Ibicencan dishes, Ibiza now offers a sizeable culinary journey through Asia without ever leaving the island.
