Ibiza Port to Open Its Doors With More Than 60 Activities and a Major Celebration on 17 October

October 03, 2026

The Port of Ibiza will open its doors to the public on Saturday, 17 October, transforming the waterfront into a full-day programme of culture, maritime activities, sport, environmental education, family entertainment and live performances.

Organised by the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands, the ‘Viu el Port’ open day will run from 10:00 until midnight and bring together more than 60 activities with the participation of more than 30 public bodies, companies, associations and other organisations connected to the port.

The event is designed to give residents and visitors a closer look at the people, services, vessels and spaces that form part of everyday life in Ibiza’s port.

A Port Open to Everyone

The programme has been created for all ages, with activities taking place at different points around the port.

Visitors will be able to discover areas that are normally associated with maritime operations while also taking part in cultural, educational, environmental and recreational activities.

The official programme includes guided visits, demonstrations, exhibitions, maritime experiences, workshops and performances throughout the day.

Discover the Port From the Water

Several of the day's activities will offer visitors the opportunity to see Ibiza's port from a different perspective.

The programme includes trips around the port aboard the City Boat, visits to working vessels and opportunities to learn more about maritime operations.

Visitors will also be able to board the Salvamar Naos rescue vessel, discover the port aboard the oceanographic vessel SOCIB and see the Cap de Barbaria ferry from inside.

There will also be an opportunity to visit the practical operations behind the port, including the vessel used by the harbour pilots.

Go Inside the Botafoc Lighthouse

One of the more unusual opportunities during the day will be a guided visit to the Botafoc lighthouse.

The official programme currently lists visits during both the late morning and afternoon, giving participants the chance to explore a part of Ibiza's maritime infrastructure that is not normally open as part of an ordinary visit to the port.

Other guided experiences include learning how passenger boarding systems operate and seeing how boats are repaired at the Varadero Ibiza facilities.

A Different Way to Experience Puig des Molins

The programme also connects the port with Ibiza's archaeological heritage.

Visitors can take part in a guided experience exploring the Necrópolis del Puig des Molins, with the official programme currently listing sessions between 10:00 and 14:00.

Another highlight is a virtual 3D experience designed to provide an immersive look at the archaeological site.

The combination of maritime activities and cultural programming is intended to show how closely Ibiza's port is connected to the island's history.

Maritime Safety and Emergency Services

The open day will also provide an opportunity to see some of the people and equipment involved in keeping the port and surrounding waters safe.

Demonstrations will feature security and emergency services, including vehicles, drones and a canine unit.

The programme also gives visitors opportunities to learn about maritime rescue and the work carried out by the different services operating around the port.

Environment, the Sea and Posidonia

Environmental education is another important part of ‘Viu el Port’.

Activities will focus on the marine environment, including the importance of posidonia and the need to protect Ibiza's coastal ecosystems.

The programme also includes activities connected with marine research and sustainability, giving visitors an opportunity to learn more about the scientific and environmental work taking place around the Balearic Islands.

Music, Dance and Ball Pagès

The event will not be limited to educational and maritime activities.

Music and dance performances will form part of the programme, alongside traditional Ibiza culture, including ball pagès.

The combination of cultural performances and activities throughout the port is intended to create a lively atmosphere as the day progresses.

A Solidarity Paella for €5

A popular paella will be served at the fishing quay during the event.

Tickets cost €5 and include a portion of paella, a drink and dessert.

Unlike the rest of the programme, which is free, the paella has a charge, with the proceeds going to ASPANADIF, the Ibiza and Formentera Association of Parents and Friends of Children with Intellectual Disabilities.

The organisation works to support people with intellectual disabilities and their families, including their autonomy and social inclusion.

Free Transport Around the Port

With activities distributed across several areas, organisers have arranged free internal transport throughout the day.

The City Boat, EU9 bus and an electric train will connect the Botafoc Maritime Station with sa Riba and other activity areas.

This means visitors can move between different parts of the programme without needing to use a private vehicle.

Photography Competition

The public will also be able to participate in a photography competition during the event.

Participants must publish a photograph of the Port of Ibiza connected with the day's activities on social media on 17 October and use the hashtag #ConcursViuelPortEivissa.

The three photographs receiving the most likes will be selected as the winners, according to the published event rules.

The Evening Finale at es Martell

As the afternoon turns into evening, the focus will move towards es Martell for the final part of the celebration.

A drone show will lead into a Flower Power party, with music and entertainment continuing until midnight.

The finale will give the open day a distinctly Ibiza-style ending while bringing together the different elements of the programme.
