Hï Ibiza took on a very different look this weekend as its exterior became a showcase for contemporary art during the second edition of Culture Collective: Ibiza Art Weekend.

From September 11 to 13, the project brought artists, musicians, designers and creative figures together across Hï Ibiza, Ushuaïa Ibiza and [UNVRS], with 70 international artists and 20 speakers taking part.

At Hï Ibiza, three artists in particular transformed the area outside the club: Domingo Zapata, Lorenzo Masnah and Barcelona-based artist Pez.

Domingo Zapata Creates a New Large-Scale Work

Domingo Zapata created a new large-format artwork specifically for the event.

The piece was developed directly on the exterior of Hï Ibiza over several days before being officially presented on Friday, September 11.

The work brings Zapata's interest in fine art, fashion and popular culture into a public-facing nightlife environment, creating a piece designed to be seen not only by clubgoers but by people passing the venue.

Lorenzo Masnah Brings CryptoPunks to the Street

Lorenzo Masnah also created a new version of his Punks project for Ibiza.

The mural draws on the visual world of CryptoPunks, translating the digital characters into a physical artwork on the façade of Hï Ibiza.

Masnah's project explores the relationship between digital identity and public space, taking characters that originated online and placing them directly into the streets of Ibiza.

The artist also discussed the evolution of the project during the Culture Collective programme, including the journey from his early street-art work to large-scale authorised murals.

Pez Joins the Project

Barcelona artist Pez became the third artist involved with the exterior works.

His participation developed during the weekend after he travelled to Ibiza as a guest of the event.

Pez already had a longstanding relationship with Masnah, and that connection led to him joining the artistic project at Hï Ibiza.

His contribution added another layer to the collection of works displayed around the club.

Art Outside the Club

The installations reflect one of Culture Collective's central ideas: taking contemporary art beyond traditional gallery spaces.

The exterior of Hï Ibiza became an open-air exhibition visible from the street, allowing people to encounter the works without entering the club.

The approach creates a direct connection between contemporary art, architecture and the everyday movement of the surrounding area.

Part of a Larger Ibiza Art Weekend

The Hï Ibiza works formed part of a much larger programme running across three venues.

Culture Collective's September edition combined exhibitions, new commissions, live art, talks and performances with the nightlife programmes at Hï Ibiza, Ushuaïa Ibiza and [UNVRS].

The programme included discussions involving figures from art, music, fashion and technology, creating a wider cultural event rather than a conventional art exhibition.

From Digital Art to Physical Space

One of the recurring themes of the weekend was the relationship between technology and physical art.

Masnah's CryptoPunks mural provided a particularly clear example, taking characters associated with the digital world and recreating them at architectural scale.

Other projects across the weekend explored digital identity, immersive technology and the changing relationship between audiences and contemporary art.

A Different Face of Hï Ibiza

The weekend offered a very different perspective on one of Ibiza's best-known clubs.

Instead of focusing exclusively on its nighttime programme, the building itself became part of the artistic experience.

Large-scale murals and installations changed how the venue appeared during the day, while the surrounding programme connected those works with discussions about culture, creativity and the future of art.

Culture and Nightlife Continue to Overlap

Culture Collective reflects a growing crossover between Ibiza's entertainment and contemporary art scenes.

The September programme was created by W1 Curates and The Night League and followed its first Art Weekend in Ibiza in May.

The second edition expanded the project to three major venues and increased the number of participating artists and speakers.

Hï Ibiza as a Public Canvas

The work of Zapata, Masnah and Pez gave Hï Ibiza a temporary role as an open-air art space during the weekend.

The pieces could be viewed directly from the surrounding streets, creating a more accessible encounter with contemporary art while connecting the venue with Ibiza's broader creative community.

For Hï Ibiza, the result was a striking change of atmosphere: for several days, the façade became as much a part of Ibiza's cultural landscape as the club is of its nightlife.

Culture Collective's September edition has now concluded, but the artworks created and presented during the weekend add another chapter to the growing relationship between contemporary art and Ibiza's club culture.
