Sant Josep Local Police have dismantled an irregular settlement in a wooded area of Port des Torrent after information from local residents helped officers locate the site.

The intervention uncovered an accumulation of waste and materials that could be used to light fires, raising particular concern because the settlement was located in a forested environment with an increased risk of fire.

Following the police operation, municipal cleaning services removed enough rubbish to fill an entire truck.

Residents Help Police Locate the Settlement

The intervention was made possible through cooperation between local residents and Sant Josep Local Police.

According to the police, members of the public alerted officers to the existence of the settlement in a wooded area of Port des Torrent.

The information allowed officers to locate the site and assess the conditions there.

The settlement was situated away from the main urban areas, in a natural environment where the accumulation of waste and the use of fire could create risks for both the occupants and surrounding areas.

Fire Risk Was a Major Concern

One of the main issues identified by officers was the presence of materials for making fires.

Police highlighted the "serious fire risk" associated with having such materials in a forested setting.

Following the intervention, municipal cleaning crews removed the accumulated waste.
