Ibiza Chef Seeks Work and Accommodation After Dispute Over Missing Belongings

02 November 2026

A chef and sushi specialist living in Ibiza is seeking employment and accommodation after becoming involved in a dispute over his housing arrangements, during which he alleges that belongings worth approximately €8,000 disappeared from his room.

The situation, which has led to complaints being submitted to the Policía Nacional, involves conflicting accounts from the chef and the person responsible for managing the property. While the chef alleges theft, intimidation and physical confrontations, the property manager denies that a theft took place and disputes his right to remain in the accommodation.

Dispute Began After Chef Returned to an Empty Room

According to the chef's account, the dispute began on 14 August 2026, when he returned to accommodation in Ibiza city that had previously been provided through his employment.

He alleges that the entrance lock had been changed and that, after gaining access with the assistance of a neighbour, he discovered that his room had been emptied. Some of his belongings were reportedly left in rubbish bags outside the property.

Among the items he says went missing were three professional kitchen knives, a MacBook Pro, cash, personal documents, passports and clothing.

He estimates the total value of the missing possessions at approximately €8,000. He subsequently submitted a complaint to the Policía Nacional concerning the alleged theft and coercion.

According to his account, some personal belongings were later recovered after a suitcase was reportedly located on Calle Murcia.

Property Manager Disputes the Allegations

The person responsible for the property, identified as C. in the original report, offers a different account of the circumstances.

He maintains that the chef was initially given accommodation after being offered a job opportunity involving a trial period. According to his version, the employment relationship ended after the chef did not pass the trial period, and he was subsequently asked to leave the accommodation.

The property manager also disputes the alleged theft, claiming that the room was cleared by other people rather than its contents being stolen.

He further alleges that the chef has remained in the property without paying rent and says that compensation was discussed as a possible arrangement for his departure.

However, documentation supporting the property manager's allegations or the reported legal proceedings was not provided to the original publication.

Neither account has been independently established as fact, and the precise legal position concerning the accommodation remains unclear.

Second Police Complaint Filed in October

The dispute reportedly continued after the initial complaint.

On 23 October 2026, the chef submitted a second complaint to the Policía Nacional, describing further incidents that he characterised as intimidation, harassment and physical aggression.

According to his account, an altercation with another resident occurred inside the property and ended after neighbours intervened.

He also alleges that the electricity supply to his room and refrigerator was disconnected, causing food stored inside to spoil.

The chef maintains that these circumstances have made it increasingly difficult for him to continue living and working in the property.

The property manager, meanwhile, says he has also sought legal action to have the chef leave the accommodation.

The existence, precise scope and current status of the legal proceedings mentioned by both parties have not been independently confirmed.

Chef Appeals for Employment and Accommodation in Ibiza

Beyond the dispute, the chef's immediate priority is finding a way to secure stable accommodation and return to work.

He says his professional background includes cooking, sushi preparation and gastronomic management, but that he is also willing to consider employment in other sectors.

Among the possibilities he is considering are jobs that include accommodation or an arrangement involving services in exchange for somewhere to live. He has also offered his experience in property and finca maintenance.

The chef says he wants to remain in Ibiza, where he grew up, and is looking for an opportunity that will allow him to regain financial stability and move forward.

For now, the dispute remains unresolved, with allegations made by both sides and no independently verified outcome of the legal proceedings.
