Trasmapi Gobycar Citubo HC Eivissa earned its first point of the 2026/27 División de Honor Plata season after fighting back from a four-goal deficit to draw 27-27 with Fundación Agustinos Alicante on Saturday, September 19.

The Ibiza side, playing its first home match of the league campaign at the Polideportivo Insular de Blancadona, found itself behind for long periods before producing a strong finish. The draw leaves Eivissa with one point from its opening two matches.

Agustinos Take Early Control

The visitors made the better start, opening a 0-2 lead before Marc Vega got Eivissa on the scoreboard.

The hosts then responded and moved ahead 4-3 before extending that advantage to 6-4. Agustinos regained control, however, and began to create problems for the Ibiza defence.

Eivissa went into half-time trailing 13-14 after a final shot at the end of the first period hit the post.

Four-Goal Deficit After the Break

The second half began badly for Eivissa.

Within five minutes, Agustinos had extended its lead to 14-18. The visitors continued to hold a four-goal advantage for much of the next spell, with Eivissa struggling to turn its defensive work into consistent attacking production.

At 19-23, the hosts still faced a significant deficit with time running down.

Eivissa Launch the Comeback

The home side gradually changed the momentum.

Two consecutive goals from Fer González helped Eivissa close the gap, and González later converted a seven-metre throw to bring the hosts within reach.

A save from Broto gave Eivissa another opportunity, although Dani Bernárdez was unable to convert the immediate chance to level the score.

Edu Ortiz then scored to make it 23-23, putting the hosts back into the contest.

Hosts Move Ahead

Eivissa completed the turnaround when it moved 25-24 ahead with just over five minutes remaining.

Agustinos responded immediately to level the score, setting up a tense final period with both teams still in contention for the two points.

With one minute remaining and the score at 26-26, Broto produced an important save for the home side.

Dramatic Final Minute

Eivissa then moved ahead once again.

Marc Vega scored to make it 27-26, leaving Agustinos with the task of finding an equaliser during the final moments.

The Alicante side found its pivot and restored parity at 27-27.

Eivissa still had around ten seconds for one final attack. Basualdo took the shot, but the effort struck the post, leaving both teams with a point.

First Point of the Season

The draw gives HC Eivissa its first point of the campaign.

The team had opened the season with a 31-28 defeat against Blendio Sinfín Santander in Santander on September 12. The 27-27 result therefore puts its record after two rounds at one draw and one defeat.

A Difficult Start, But Signs of Improvement

Eivissa's opening two matches have both contained periods in which the team struggled to maintain consistency.

Against Agustinos, the side again conceded stretches of control to its opponent but showed greater resilience as the match progressed.

The comeback from 19-23 and the late 27-26 lead demonstrated the team's ability to remain competitive despite spending much of the match chasing the score.

Coach Eugenio Tilves Sees Room for Growth

The coaching staff has previously acknowledged that the squad is still adapting and developing its collective understanding.

With a number of players needing time to establish playing relationships and automatisms, the opening weeks of the season are also an important period of adjustment for the team.

The point against Agustinos gives Eivissa something tangible to build on as it continues its return to the second tier of Spanish men's handball.

Next Test Comes Against Benidorm

Eivissa's next league match is away to BM Servigroup Benidorm on Saturday, September 26.

The fixture is scheduled for 19:00 at the Pabellón Pau Gasol in Benidorm and will be the team's third match of the regular season.
