Manumission is set to bring its infamous 1990s-inspired world back to Ibiza next weekend, with a 12-hour event at 528 Ibiza on Saturday, September 26.

The one-night production will recreate the atmosphere of 1998 across five interconnected stages and spaces, including a three-storey recreation of the Manumission Motel.

The event runs from 17:00 until 05:00 and forms the centrepiece of the three-day Le Weekend Manumission programme taking place across Ibiza from September 25 to 27.

The Manumission Motel Returns

At the heart of the event will be a three-storey recreation of the original Manumission Motel, transformed into a theatrical environment featuring dancers, drag performers, acrobats and other characters.

The production takes inspiration from The Motel: High Times in 90s Ibiza, the memoir connected to the Manumission story.

British choreographer Jodie Blemmings is directing the production, with performances involving London-based dancers and other artists.

The organisers are aiming to recreate the creative atmosphere associated with Manumission during its 1990s Ibiza era rather than simply stage a conventional club night.

Five Worlds Across 528 Ibiza

For the first time at 528 Ibiza, the different stages will be connected through a single immersive storyline.

The five spaces each have their own concept, music and performances, allowing guests to move between different environments throughout the 12-hour event.

The Grand Park Stage will host the Manumission Motel recreation, while the Garden Stage will become the setting for Hellfire in the Hong Kong Hot Tub.

Carl Craig Leads the Garden Stage

The Garden Stage will combine music with a theatrical bathhouse-inspired setting under the Hellfire in the Hong Kong Hot Tub theme.

Detroit techno artist Carl Craig is confirmed to provide the music, with the environment also featuring performers including go-go dancers, drag performers and Manumission Girls.

The Garden Stage is scheduled to remain open until 23:00 before the later-night programme moves further indoors.

XTRA Takes Over the Forest

The Forest Stage will be curated by Ibiza queer collective XTRA.

Its concept, Bedroom Bondage à la Japonaise, draws on Manumission's early connections with Manchester's LGBTQ+ club culture while highlighting artists from Ibiza's current queer scene.

The organisers describe the stage as another part of the wider narrative linking the five environments together.

David Morales Takes Over Teatro

Inside Teatro, the event will transform the space into Le Theatre Pink Pussy, a theatrical interpretation of a New York strip club.

The space will combine performances and club music throughout the night, with David Morales confirmed for a six-hour set.

Morales' extended performance is intended to evoke the atmosphere of New York's historic Paradise Garage, where he became closely associated with the city's club culture.

A Dark Room in the Club

The Club space will become Roger More's Dark Room, curated by Pikes' Nick Sheehy.

The concept forms the final part of the five-space experience, continuing the theatrical and immersive approach across the venue.

Unlike a conventional club programme where each room operates independently, the organisers say the spaces are linked through one overarching story.

Line-Up Remains Partly Secret

While Carl Craig and David Morales have been officially confirmed, much of the musical lineup remains undisclosed.

The event is deliberately maintaining an element of mystery around its DJs and performers, following the tradition of keeping Manumission's surprises hidden until guests arrive.

The emphasis is also being placed on performance, theatre and audience participation rather than music alone.

Phones and Photography Restricted

The organisers have announced strict restrictions on phone use during the event.

Guests are being asked not to film or take photographs, with the policy intended to preserve the immersive nature of the experience.

The event information also states that there will be no VIP area.

Part of Le Weekend Manumission

The 528 Ibiza event is the centrepiece of Le Weekend Manumission, a three-day return running from Friday, September 25 to Sunday, September 27.

The wider programme uses several Ibiza venues and is designed around the reunion of the original Manumission creative team, including Andy, Mike and Claire.

The 528 event is the longest part of the weekend, with 12 hours of programming from Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning.

Manumission Returns to Ibiza

The 2026 project marks the return of Manumission after an 18-year hiatus, with its creators seeking to revisit the atmosphere of the late 1990s while presenting it to a new generation.

Rather than reproducing the original club night exactly, the new production combines theatre, music, performance and themed environments across the 528 Ibiza site.
