Ibiza Hosts Free Infoparticipa Conference on Government Transparency at Sa Peixateria on October 16

October 15, 2026

Ibiza Town will host a conference dedicated to transparency and public accountability on Friday, 16 October 2026, bringing together researchers, public officials and specialists to discuss the challenges facing transparent public administration.

The event, titled Consolidem la transparència (“Let’s Consolidate Transparency”), forms part of the Infoparticipa 2026 programme. It is organised by the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and the InfoParticipa association, with the collaboration of Ibiza Town Hall.

Taking place at the municipal cultural space Sa Peixateria, the morning programme will include research findings, an expert presentation, a panel discussion and an awards ceremony recognising institutions for their transparency practices. Admission is free until capacity is reached.

Experts to Discuss the Challenges of Public Transparency

The event is scheduled to begin at 11:00, with the institutional opening taking place at 11:10. Joan Clapés, Ibiza Town Hall’s councillor for Technological Innovation and Transparency, is due to take part in the opening.

The programme will then present the latest results from InfoParticipa, followed by a talk from Miquel Àngel Blanes Climent, a doctor of law and specialist in transparency.

A discussion panel will subsequently examine the current state of transparency in public management and the challenges that public institutions continue to face. Participants will include Blanes Climent, Justo Casenave and Marta Corcoy.

The discussion will address transparency in public administration, including the importance of making institutional information accessible and enabling citizens to understand how public bodies operate.

Awards to Recognise Transparency Practices

At 12:30, the programme is scheduled to include an awards ceremony recognising the institutions selected through the Infoparticipa initiative.

The mayors of Calafell and Peralada, Ramon Ferré and Miquel Brugat, are due to participate, sharing their experiences of the programme’s mentoring initiative. This initiative allows institutions to exchange knowledge and support one another in improving the presentation and accessibility of public information.

The Infoparticipa project evaluates the quality of public communication and institutional transparency. Its assessment framework examines information about elected representatives, the management of public resources, financial information, municipal affairs and opportunities for citizen participation.

The awards ceremony will form part of a wider discussion about how public institutions can improve their communication with residents and strengthen accountability.

The conference is scheduled to conclude at 13:20 with an institutional closing led by Ibiza mayor Rafael Triguero.

Free Admission at Sa Peixateria

The conference will take place at Sa Peixateria, a municipal space in Ibiza Town’s historic La Marina area.

Admission is free, although attendance is subject to venue capacity. The event offers residents, professionals and anyone interested in public administration an opportunity to learn more about transparency standards and the work being carried out to improve institutional communication.
