An exclusive gathering at Sa Pedrera turned a former Sant Antoni quarry into an elaborate Egyptian-inspired world, bringing together international celebrities, art, music and immersive production around one of 2026’s most unusual Ibiza events.

A spectacular private event transforms Sa Pedrera

Ibiza has hosted countless extravagant parties, but few have attempted to turn a former stone quarry into an ancient Egyptian kingdom.

That was the ambition behind “A Pharaohs Ball”, a highly produced private celebration organised by international event designer Bronson van Wyck and his sister, Mimi van Wyck, at Sa Pedrera de Can Coix in Sant Antoni.

The event brought together hundreds of guests for an immersive evening inspired by Ancient Egypt, Cleopatra, the solar eclipse and Ibiza itself.

Galerie Magazine reported on the event on September 8, describing the celebration as a once-in-a-lifetime gathering that combined history, art, technology and entertainment in an exceptionally elaborate setting.

Three reasons to celebrate became one major Ibiza event

The concept was built around three separate occasions.

The first was the total solar eclipse of August 12, 2026, an exceptionally rare astronomical event whose path of totality crossed the Mediterranean near Ibiza around sunset.

The second was the 50th birthday of Mimi van Wyck.

The third was the anniversary associated with Cleopatra's death, which became the historical connection that linked the Egyptian theme with the astronomical event.

Rather than treating those milestones separately, Bronson van Wyck combined them into a single concept.

The result was “A Pharaohs Ball”, staged in Ibiza around the eclipse period and described by its organisers as an expression of hospitality, creativity and gratitude towards family and friends.

An abandoned quarry became Ancient Egypt

Sa Pedrera provided a naturally dramatic setting for the production.

The former quarry in Sant Antoni was transformed with a monumental pyramid inspired by the proportions of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, a sphinx, Egyptian-style columns and a central Cleopatra tableau.

Mirrored and metallic surfaces were incorporated into the design, while projections covered the quarry's stone walls with hieroglyphics, Egyptian gods, tomb imagery and other moving visuals.

The environment was deliberately designed to blur the boundary between ancient history and futuristic spectacle.

Bronson van Wyck described the creative idea as a mixture of Ancient Egypt, Ibiza, Cleopatra, disco, nature and technology.

Hundreds of international guests attended

The event attracted a high-profile international guest list.

Among those reported to have attended were Charlotte Tilbury, Adrien Brody, Georgina Chapman, Frédéric Arnault, Anthony Vaccarello, Olivia Palermo, Johannes Huebl, Riccardo Tisci, Darren Star, Giovanna Engelbert and James Blunt.

Other guests included Eric Schmidt, Gela and John Taylor, Ana de la Reguera, Gunna and a number of figures from fashion, entertainment, business and international society.

Different reports have put attendance at more than 350 and more than 400 guests, while promotional accounts of the production have referenced a larger capacity around the event. The more consistently reported figure is that several hundred invited guests travelled to Ibiza for the private celebration.

The dress code turned Ancient Egypt into a fantasy world

Guests were encouraged to interpret the Ancient Egyptian theme rather than follow a strict historical costume code.

The resulting looks combined pharaohs and queens with elements of disco, glamour and science fiction.

Gold lamé, mirrored materials, metallic fashion and mythical Egyptian references filled the setting, alongside unexpected interpretations that extended far beyond conventional Egyptian imagery.

For van Wyck, the freedom to interpret the theme was part of the concept itself.

The party encouraged guests to use their costumes to reveal something about themselves, creating an atmosphere where historical references could coexist with highly contemporary fashion and performance.

Music became part of the theatrical production

Entertainment was designed as an integral part of the overall environment rather than simply a collection of performances between stages of the party.

Singer Nicki French appeared as Selene, the goddess of the moon, performing in a production connected to the eclipse theme.

Kimberly Nichole performed a reinterpretation of “House of the Rising Sun”, while Sophie and the Giants and Ronia Alvarado also appeared during the evening.

Ronia Alvarado performed “Walk Like an Egyptian”, adding another direct connection between the music programme and the event's theme.

The production also included original performances inspired by Ancient Egypt, including “Inundation Cycle”, based on the life-giving flooding of the Nile, and “The Triumph of Ra”, centred on the Egyptian sun deity.

The eclipse was at the heart of the concept

The timing of the celebration was not accidental.

The August 12 total solar eclipse provided the astronomical foundation for the event, with Ibiza becoming one of the places associated with the extraordinary sunset eclipse.

The eclipse was particularly significant because total solar eclipses are relatively rare at any given location, making the 2026 event a notable astronomical occasion for the Balearic Islands.

For van Wyck, the combination of Ibiza, the eclipse and Cleopatra provided the three elements needed to create the concept.

The party therefore became an unusual meeting point between astronomy, ancient history and modern nightlife.

A celebration rooted in hospitality

Despite the immense scale of the production, van Wyck has explained that the central idea behind his private events is hospitality.

He described entertaining as a way of expressing gratitude towards the people who have contributed to his and his family's lives.

The family reportedly stages these larger personal celebrations only periodically, using them as opportunities to experiment creatively and to bring together people from different parts of their lives.

The event also reflects van Wyck's professional background. His company, Van Wyck & Van Wyck, specialises in the creation and production of luxury private events around the world.

The event attracted attention beyond the guest list

While international lifestyle and fashion publications largely focused on the visual spectacle, the event also generated discussion locally in Ibiza.

The party took place at Sa Pedrera de Can Coix, a quarry site in the Sant Antoni area close to environmentally sensitive surroundings, and local media reported concerns about issues including noise, traffic, fire risk and the scale of the temporary installation.

Particular attention was later directed towards an artificial lake created as part of the event's Egyptian-themed production.

Local reporting cited estimates ranging from approximately 60 to 170 tonnes of water used for the temporary feature. Those figures have been reported by local media and should be treated as estimates rather than a single officially confirmed volume.

The event was authorised by Sant Antoni Town Hall as a temporary non-permanent activity, according to local reporting, and the celebration ultimately took place without the serious incidents some critics had feared.

The contrast between the international glamour surrounding the event and the local discussion about environmental resources and the use of a natural setting became an important part of the story in Ibiza.

Why the Pharaohs Ball stands out in Ibiza’s 2026 season

Ibiza is no stranger to ambitious productions, but the Pharaohs Ball was unusual in its combination of private hospitality, historical storytelling, fashion, live performance, technology and astronomical timing.

Instead of simply decorating an existing venue, the organisers effectively created a new visual environment inside the quarry.

The production used the natural rock formations of Sa Pedrera as part of the scenery, turning the excavated landscape into the foundations of an imagined Egyptian world.
