Sunwaves Returns to Playa Soleil Ibiza This Wednesday for a 13-Hour Underground Session

September 14, 2026

The underground sound of Sunwaves returns to Ibiza this Wednesday, September 16, as the Romanian-born festival brings its distinctive approach to Playa Soleil for one of only two September dates in its inaugural Ibiza residency.

The event begins at 17:00, with tickets currently available from €20. Sunwaves will once again bring its focus on extended sets, carefully curated electronic music and the community atmosphere that has defined the festival since its beginnings in Romania.

One important detail about Wednesday's edition is that the lineup remains officially TBA. No artists have been confirmed for the September 16 date on the current Clubtickets or Ibiza Spotlight listings, so the event is best approached as a full Sunwaves experience rather than a headline-driven night.

The format, however, is already established. Sunwaves Ibiza expands across Playa Soleil and the adjoining Bora Bora site, with two daytime stages and a nighttime club space. The full programme is built around long sessions and a continuous musical journey, with the Bora Bora Pool and Glass Terrace operating from 17:00 to 23:00 before the Club continues from 23:00 until 06:00.

The arrival of Sunwaves in Ibiza marks an important new chapter for the Romanian festival, which spent almost two decades building a reputation around minimal, house and underground electronic music. After expanding beyond Romania with editions in cities including Barcelona, Madrid and London, the brand launched its first structured Ibiza residency in 2026.

The Ibiza residency originally began on June 17 and ran weekly through August before pausing for the festival's summer programme elsewhere. It now returns for two September dates, September 16 and September 30, before the official Ibiza closing party on October 7.

For September 16, the absence of a published lineup does not necessarily mean a shorter experience. Sunwaves has built its reputation around marathon-style sessions rather than conventional festival scheduling, with the Ibiza project designed to carry that philosophy from late afternoon through to sunrise.

Guests must be 18 or over and need valid identification. There is no re-entry, while Playa Soleil's dress code asks guests to keep things elegant and prohibits swimwear, sports-team merchandise, backpacks, uncovered torsos and vests for men. The organisers also note that lineups and set times can change.

For followers of Ibiza's underground side, September 16 is one of the final opportunities to experience Sunwaves on the island this year. With the music beginning at 17:00 and the project built around extended sets and a community-driven atmosphere, Playa Soleil offers a very different Wednesday from the island's more conventional headline-led parties.
