Pete Tong brought an Ibiza-inspired club experience to the sea on Saturday, September 19, performing an exclusive 90-minute DJ set aboard P&O Cruises' Arvia while the ship was docked at Botafoc Pier in Ibiza.

More than 900 P&O Cruises guests attended the event in Arvia's SkyDome, which was transformed into an Ibiza-style nightclub for the evening.

The performance took place while Arvia was alongside at Botafoc Pier, allowing passengers to experience the DJ set while the cruise ship was in Ibiza.

Tong performed for 90 minutes inside the ship's glass-enclosed SkyDome, bringing a selection of house and dance music to the venue.

P&O Cruises described the performance as an exclusive experience created specifically for its guests.

More Than 900 Guests Attend

More than 900 P&O Cruises guests were in the SkyDome for the performance.

The audience included rapper and television personality Big Zuu and radio DJ Melvin Odoom, who were among the guests attending the cruise.

The event gave passengers an alternative way to experience Ibiza's dance-music culture without leaving the ship.

An Ibiza-Style Nightclub at Sea

For the evening, Arvia's SkyDome was converted into an Ibiza-style club environment.

The venue normally functions as a glass-enclosed poolside entertainment space, but the setup was adapted for the DJ performance.

P&O Cruises said the intention was to bring the atmosphere associated with Ibiza's electronic-music scene into the ship itself.

Pete Tong said Ibiza has played an important role in his life and career and described performing on Arvia while the ship was docked on the island as a memorable experience.

Following the event, he thanked the guests who attended and said he had enjoyed playing in the SkyDome.

He also highlighted the unusual setting of performing an Ibiza-inspired set on a cruise ship while actually in Ibiza.

Part of Arvia's Western Mediterranean Cruise

The event formed part of Arvia's 14-night roundtrip Western Mediterranean voyage.

The cruise departed Southampton on September 13 and called at La Coruña, Malaga, Alicante, Ibiza, Marseille, Barcelona and Cadiz before returning to Southampton.

The itinerary was scheduled to include a late-night departure from Ibiza, allowing the onboard event to take place during the ship's stay in port.

Arvia's First Visit to Ibiza

P&O Cruises had announced earlier in 2026 that the September call would mark Arvia's inaugural visit to Ibiza.

The Pete Tong performance was planned specifically around that visit, combining the destination with the cruise line's onboard entertainment programme.

The result was an event taking place both in Ibiza and on board the ship at the same time.

Taste of Ibiza On Board

The evening also included food and drink inspired by the island.

Guests were offered Hierbas Ibicencas alongside Ibiza-inspired cocktails and regional dishes at the ship's Sunset Bar.

P&O Cruises said the Hierbas was distilled on Ibiza and Formentera and served as part of a wider “Taste of Ibiza” experience connected with the evening's entertainment.

Tong has a long association with Ibiza through his work as a DJ, broadcaster and promoter of electronic music.

His BBC Radio 1 programming has included regular coverage of Ibiza's dance scene, while his Ibiza Classics concerts have also connected orchestral performances with well-known dance tracks.

The Arvia performance placed that connection directly into the cruise environment.

A Different Way to Experience Ibiza

The event also reflects a growing trend towards destination-themed experiences being incorporated into cruise itineraries.

Rather than simply spending the day ashore, passengers could experience an evening programme inspired by Ibiza while the ship remained docked in the port.
