Man Arrested After Allegedly Threatening Ibiza Parking Worker With Large Knife

17 de September de 2026

A 36-year-old Spanish man has been arrested in Sant Josep after allegedly threatening an employee of a car park in Platja d’en Bossa with a large knife following a dispute over the use of an electric scooter inside the parking facility.

The incident happened at around 1am on Monday, September 14, when the employee noticed the man repeatedly entering and leaving the car park while riding an electric scooter. According to the Guardia Civil account, the car park's internal rules prohibit the use of scooters, motorcycles and similar vehicles inside the premises.

Dispute Began Over the Electric Scooter

The employee reportedly told the man that riding the scooter inside the car park was prohibited.

The man allegedly ignored the instruction and continued riding through the premises before colliding with an object and causing damage to some of the car park's furniture.

When the employee challenged him over the incident, the situation escalated.

Knife Allegedly Pulled From a Waist Bag

According to the Guardia Civil, the man adopted an aggressive attitude towards the employee and other people who were present.

He then allegedly took a large knife from a waist bag he was carrying and approached the employee while making threats.

The employee managed to restrain the man and take the knife away from him before police arrived.

Guardia Civil Arrived Quickly

Another person at the scene contacted the Guardia Civil, whose officers from the Sant Josep post were nearby and arrived shortly afterwards.

Officers collected statements from witnesses and reviewed security-camera footage from the parking facility as part of their investigation.

Following those checks, the 36-year-old was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a suspected offence of attempted homicide.

Detained Man Taken Before Judicial Authorities

The suspect was placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority on the morning of September 14.

At this stage, the arrest represents an allegation under investigation and does not establish that the man is guilty. The judicial process will determine the legal circumstances of the case.

Incident Took Place in Platja d’en Bossa

The incident occurred in a parking facility in Platja d’en Bossa, within the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia.

The initial dispute was reportedly unrelated to the knife itself and began after the employee challenged the man's use of an electric scooter inside an area where such vehicles were prohibited under the car park's internal rules.

The subsequent confrontation resulted in the intervention of the Guardia Civil and the opening of a serious criminal investigation.

Investigation Based on Witnesses and CCTV

The investigation has so far relied on statements from people who witnessed the confrontation as well as security-camera recordings from the premises.

Those elements were used by officers when deciding to arrest the man on suspicion of attempted homicide.

No further details about the motive beyond the dispute over the scooter have been publicly established.

Authorities Continue the Judicial Process

The case has now moved into the judicial process following the man's appearance before the competent authority.

The incident serves as a reminder of how a relatively minor disagreement in a busy tourist area can escalate into a serious criminal investigation, but the specific circumstances and any eventual criminal responsibility will be determined through the courts.
