Ibiza is recording a sharp increase in autumn travel demand, with the number of Spanish passengers who have flights booked to the island for September to November rising by 224.5% compared with the same period in 2025.

The figure comes from travel booking data compiled by Kiwi.com and places Ibiza at the top of the Spanish destinations analysed for growth in autumn bookings.

The increase comes as Ibiza's tourism sector continues efforts to extend activity beyond the traditional summer peak.

Ibiza Leads the Increase Among Spanish Destinations

According to the latest Kiwi.com data, the number of Spanish passengers with flights booked to Ibiza for autumn 2026 is 224.5% higher than during the comparable period last year.

Ibiza is followed by Lanzarote, where the increase is 196%, Menorca at 183.8%, Palma de Mallorca at 163% and Las Palmas at 127.6%.

The figures refer specifically to passengers with flight reservations and should not be interpreted as a 224.5% increase in total visitors to Ibiza.

Autumn Travel Demand Is Rising Across Spain

The increase in Ibiza forms part of a wider rise in autumn travel.

Spanish travellers have made 93.6% more flight reservations for autumn 2026 than for autumn 2025, while the number of passengers has increased by 87.8%, according to Kiwi.com data reported on September 16.

Spain is also the leading destination for Spanish travellers, with the number of passengers travelling within the country increasing by 126.9%.

Italy follows with an 81.1% increase, while Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Portugal also recorded significant growth.

Flight Prices Remain Relatively Stable

The increase in demand has not been accompanied by a major rise in average airfares.

The average ticket price per passenger for autumn travel is €137.66, representing an increase of 1.1% compared with autumn 2025.

The median ticket price has actually fallen by 1.5%, reaching €106.

For travellers taking shorter routes, the average price is €98.68, while medium-haul flights average €150.50. Long-haul travel has seen a considerably larger increase, with the average price reaching €547.95.

Four-Day Trips Remain Popular

The data also indicates that Spanish travellers are continuing to favour relatively short autumn breaks.

The median booking lead time has increased slightly, from 52 days last year to 55 days this year.

The typical trip length remains around four days.

For Ibiza, the combination of increased flight demand and relatively stable ticket prices suggests that the island is attracting greater interest from domestic travellers during the months traditionally associated with the shoulder or low season.

Ibiza Tourism Sector Targets a Longer Season

The increase comes as Ibiza's tourism industry continues to focus on extending the island's tourism calendar.

Fomento del Turismo de Ibiza has described the island as having developed a tourism season of almost seven months, while identifying March and the period through mid-November as areas where further growth could be developed.

Air connectivity remains an important factor in extending the season, particularly outside the busiest summer months.

Promotional activity during September and October is also focusing on areas including premium tourism, gastronomy, wellness, active tourism and MICE travel.

More Flight Passengers Do Not Automatically Mean Higher Hotel Occupancy

The flight booking figures are significant, but they should not be confused with hotel occupancy or total tourist arrivals.

Ibiza's hotel occupancy in August 2026 was 92.06%, compared with 92.35% in August 2025, according to the figures cited in the report.

That means the available data does not yet show a comparable increase in hotel occupancy.

September and October will therefore provide a clearer indication of whether the stronger flight demand translates into additional overnight stays, hotel activity and tourist spending.

Ibiza's Autumn Season Continues to Evolve

The latest booking data provides a strong indication that interest in travelling to Ibiza does not disappear when the peak summer months begin to end.

September and October already form an important part of the island's tourism calendar, while events, gastronomy, wellness, nature, active tourism and business travel offer additional reasons to visit outside the height of summer.

For now, the clearest verified trend is the sharp increase in Spanish passengers with autumn flights booked to Ibiza.

Whether that increase ultimately translates into a comparable rise in accommodation demand and overall tourism activity will become clearer as the autumn season progresses.
