05 November 2026

Eleven people and family groups linked to the Balearic Islands have secured places among Spain's 100 wealthiest entries in the 2026 Forbes ranking, with estimated fortunes ranging from €720 million to €4.1 billion. The latest classification highlights the continued influence of the hotel and tourism industry, alongside the financial interests of the March family.

Leading the Balearic representation is Miguel Fluxà Rosselló, executive chairman of Iberostar Group, whose estimated fortune has increased to €4.1 billion. He ranks tenth nationally, despite moving down one position from the previous edition.

For Ibiza, the most prominent name is Abel Matutes and his family, owners of Palladium Hotel Group. Their estimated fortune stands at €740 million, placing them 77th among Spain's wealthiest individuals and families.

Miguel Fluxà Leads the Balearic Fortunes With €4.1 Billion

Miguel Fluxà Rosselló remains the wealthiest person associated with the Balearic Islands in the 2026 Forbes ranking.

The executive chairman of Iberostar Group has an estimated fortune of €4.1 billion, an increase of €800 million compared with 2025. Despite this growth, he has slipped from ninth to tenth place nationally.

The company is led by his daughters, Sabina Fluxà, chief executive officer, and Gloria Fluxà, with the family controlling the business through Sayglo Holding SL.

Iberostar closed 2025 with record revenues and continued its international expansion during 2026, including resort openings in Montenegro and Zanzibar. The group also withdrew from hotel management activities in Cuba.

The March Family Has Four Representatives in the Ranking

The March family accounts for four of the eleven Balearic entries, reflecting its longstanding interests in banking and investment.

Carlos March Delgado ranks 13th nationally, with an estimated fortune of €3.3 billion. His wealth increased by €1.3 billion compared with the previous year.

His brother Juan March Delgado occupies 15th place, with €3.1 billion, following an increase of €1.2 billion.

Both brothers hold 34% stakes in Banca March and have interests in Corporación Financiera Alba, the family's investment holding company, which was taken off the stock market in 2025.

Their sisters also appear in the ranking. Gloria March Delgado is placed 60th, with an estimated fortune of €1 billion, while Leonor March Delgado occupies 79th place, with €720 million.

Together, the four March family representatives account for a substantial part of the Balearic presence in the ranking.

RIU, Barceló and Meliá Strengthen the Hotel Industry's Representation

The hotel industry accounts for a significant proportion of the Balearic fortunes included in the Forbes list.

Carmen Riu Güell and Luis Riu Güell, co-owners of RIU Hotels & Resorts, each have an estimated fortune of €1.8 billion. They occupy 26th and 27th positions nationally, respectively.

Carmen Riu stepped away from executive responsibilities in 2024 but remains chairwoman of the company's board. Her brother Luis continues to lead the hotel group.

Another prominent name is Simón Pedro Barceló Vadell, co-president and co-owner of Grupo Barceló. He ranks 55th, with an estimated fortune of €1.1 billion. Since January 2026, he has also served as chief executive of Barceló Corporación Empresarial, the group's parent company.

Immediately behind him is Gabriel Escarrer Jaume and family, associated with Meliá Hotels International. They occupy 56th position, also with an estimated fortune of €1.1 billion.

Escarrer, president and chief executive of Meliá, has increased his estimated wealth by €340 million and moved up ten positions from the previous edition.

Abel Matutes Prats leads Palladium Hotel Group, the international hotel company with deep roots in Ibiza. The group recorded €1.162 billion in managed revenues during 2025 and entered 2026 with plans for four new openings, including Bless Barcelona and Only You New York.

The company has also outlined ambitions to expand into Asia.

Alongside his father, Abel Matutes Juan, he is involved in property development projects in Ibiza and the Costa del Sol.
