Ibiza's young trial rider Xicu Marí Serra continued his first season in the Junior category at the Spanish Trial Championship with a demanding appearance in Vimianzo, Galicia, on September 13.

The Motoclub de Formentera i Eivissa rider was among the competitors tackling the sixth round of the 2026 national championship at Monte Faro, a technically demanding course characterised by large granite formations, strong grip and unusually warm conditions for Galicia.

Xicu Marí Battles in the Junior Category

Marí entered the weekend after an impressive start to his first Junior campaign.

He was crowned Spanish Cadet champion in 2025 and recorded his first Junior victory of the 2026 season at Sigüenza. In Vimianzo, he found himself competing against a strong national and international field in a category that has produced five different race winners across the six Junior rounds held so far.

The Japanese rider Yamato Kimura won the Vimianzo Junior race with 17 penalty points. Aleix Ávalos finished second on 22, while Álex Pifarré took third with 23. Xicu Marí finished outside the podium.

A Difficult Final Section

Marí initially challenged for the leading positions, but lost ground during the closing stages of the trial.

According to the Motoclub's account, the young Ibiza rider reached the final sections without enough time to inspect them beforehand. He therefore had to tackle the last zones without the opportunity to study them properly, choosing to avoid a potentially greater time penalty.

Despite missing out on the podium, the performance adds another valuable result to Marí's first season competing at Junior level.

A Challenging Weekend at Monte Faro

Vimianzo provided a demanding test for the championship field.

The course was built around granite formations on Monte Faro, with steep climbs, large steps and technically difficult passages. The strong grip of the rock allowed organisers to create particularly demanding sections, while the high temperatures increased the physical challenge for riders.

The Junior riders competed on Sunday over 12 zones ridden twice, with the final zone located in the centre of Vimianzo close to the town's main square, bringing the competition directly to spectators.

Strong Weekend for Motoclub de Formentera i Eivissa

The club's wider expedition included three riders and three assistants.

Javier Serra provided one of the weekend's strongest results for the Pitiusan team by finishing third in Veterano A. The result also leaves him third in the provisional championship standings with the national season approaching its conclusion.

Lluís Planells, competing in TR4 during his debut season in the category, finished 12th.

Championship Heads Towards Its Final Stage

The Spanish Trial Championship now moves towards its final event of the season.

Ripoll, in Girona, will host the final two championship rounds on October 24 and 25. The RFME calendar lists these as the seventh and eighth rounds of the 2026 championship.

For Xicu Marí, the double-header will provide the final opportunity to build on an encouraging first Junior season and finish his debut campaign against some of the strongest young trial riders in Spain and internationally.

With Vimianzo completed, the Ibiza rider and the Motoclub de Formentera i Eivissa now turn their attention to the final two rounds of the national championship.
