Ibiza Spotlight will mark its 50th anniversary with a special party in Ibiza Town on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

The celebration will take place after the main 2026 Ibiza closing-party weekend, bringing together longtime clients, customers, members of the Ibiza Spotlight online community and current and former members of the team.

The exact venue, lineup and opening hours have not yet been announced.  

From a printed guide to the digital era

Ibiza Spotlight's story began in 1976, when British entrepreneur Norman Skinner and his wife Leah launched a printed guide to Ibiza.

The original publication combined maps, local information, listings and practical advice for visitors at a time when reliable information about the island was considerably harder to find.

The guide eventually evolved into the online platform known today as Ibiza Spotlight.  

The 1976 beginnings

The anniversary marks five decades since the first edition of the guide appeared.

According to Ibiza Spotlight's own historical account, Norman Skinner recognised that visitors needed practical information about the island and developed a printed guide to fill that gap.

Mapping was one of its distinctive features. The publication produced detailed maps of Ibiza and later Formentera, with the information becoming useful to both visitors and tourism professionals.  

The company itself has previously documented that its first edition was published in 1976, confirming that the 50th anniversary in 2026 is based on the company's original guide rather than the later launch of its website. 

The move online

For more than two decades, Ibiza Spotlight existed primarily as a printed guide.

The next major chapter began in 1999, when Norman Skinner worked with James Ledden to bring Ibiza Spotlight online.

The website expanded the original guide concept into a digital platform covering accommodation, nightlife, travel information and other aspects of visiting Ibiza. 

The company says it has provided information about Ibiza since 1976 and has operated online since 1999. 

Five decades of Ibiza

The anniversary comes at a time when Ibiza Spotlight's coverage extends well beyond the printed guide that started the company.

Its current platform includes an Ibiza party calendar, club and event information, ticketing, travel content, accommodation and editorial coverage.

The company has also been publishing a series of articles during 2026 looking back at its history, including the transition from paper to digital and the people who have worked with the organisation over the years.  

A celebration in Ibiza Town

The anniversary party is planned for somewhere in Ibiza Town, but the precise location remains undisclosed.

The current listing describes it as a celebration for the wider Ibiza Spotlight community, including loyal customers, longtime clients, members of its online forum and staff members past and present.

It is scheduled for one day only, Saturday, October 17.
