Ibiza Writer José Morella to Lead Free Creative Writing Workshop at Cas Serres

17 September 2026

Ibizan writer José Morella will lead a free five-session creative writing workshop at the Biblioteca Pública Insular in Ibiza this October, offering adults an introduction to the fundamentals of narrative writing.

Titled “Iniciació al llenguatge narratiu,” the workshop will take place at the library in the Cas Serres cultural center from Monday, October 5, through Friday, October 9, with sessions running from 18:00 to 20:00 each day.

The program is organized by the Biblioteca Pública Insular d’Eivissa and is aimed at adults interested in taking their first steps in fiction and literary writing.

Five Sessions of Writing and Practice

Across the five sessions, Morella will introduce participants to the main resources and techniques used in narrative writing.

The workshop will combine theoretical material with practical exercises. Participants will read and analyze excerpts from contemporary novels and short stories before applying different narrative techniques to their own writing.

The program will cover elements involved in constructing a narrative and provide participants with tools to develop their own texts and build confidence in the creative process.

Led by Award-Winning Ibizan Writer

José Morella was born in Ibiza in 1972 and has written five novels, a book of poetry and several language and writing manuals.

He received the Café Gijón Prize for his novel “West End.” He has also received a special mention from the jury of the Herralde Prize and the Qwerty Award for emerging narrator for “Asuntos propios.”

Morella holds a degree in Literary Theory and Comparative Literature and has experience teaching narrative writing and literary workshops.

His recent work includes “El taller del diamant,” a manual focused on writing techniques and resources.

Free, But Registration Is Required

The workshop is free of charge, but places are limited and advance registration is required through the form provided by the Biblioteca Pública Insular.

The sessions will take place at the Biblioteca Pública Insular in the Cas Serres cultural center, on Carrer d’Ernest Ehrenfeld in Ibiza.

For further information, the library can be contacted by email at biblioteca@conselldeivissa.es or by telephone and WhatsApp on 971 39 08 87.

The workshop provides an opportunity for aspiring writers in Ibiza to work directly with a local author while developing practical skills in narrative construction, fiction writing and the creative process.
