Five Photos of Ibiza and Formentera Reach the National Final of “Mi Rincón Favorito”

October 13, 2026

Five photographs captured in Ibiza and Formentera have reached the national final of Mi Rincón Favorito, a photography competition on Instagram that celebrates places across Spain through the images of the people who know and love them.

The five images form part of a selection of six photographs from the Balearic Islands chosen for the sixth edition of the competition. The remaining finalist represents Palmanova in Mallorca. The national winners are scheduled to be announced on 15 October 2026.

Five Images Showcase the Pityusic Islands

The selection highlights the coastline, Mediterranean light and sunsets that feature prominently in the landscapes of Ibiza and Formentera.

Formentera is represented by Elena Vicente Copete, whose photograph captures a lighthouse silhouetted against the sea beneath an intense orange sky.

Ibiza contributes two images by Joan Ribas Compte. One depicts a rocky cove at dusk, with rounded stones in the foreground. The other was photographed close to the water and features birds in flight, boats and golden reflections from the sun across the sea.

Sant Antoni de Portmany completes the Pityusic selection with two sunset photographs by Suzan Redzhebova Mustafova. One captures the sun close to the dark outline of the coastline, with several boats visible on the water. The other shows the sun disappearing behind the horizon beneath illuminated clouds.

Together, the five photographs offer different perspectives on the islands, from rocky coves and coastal landmarks to the changing colours of the Mediterranean at sunset.

Six Balearic Photographs in the National Final

The Balearic Islands' selection includes six photographs in total, with five from Ibiza and Formentera and one from Mallorca.

Ángela Hernández Parras represents Mallorca with a photograph taken in Palmanova, showing the coastline beneath a red and violet sunset sky crossed by a flock of birds.

The six selected images will compete against photographs chosen from other Spanish autonomous communities for the national awards. Reaching the final does not guarantee a prize, with the national results still to be announced.

More Than 2,400 Photographs Entered

The 2026 edition of Mi Rincón Favorito has received more than 2,400 photographs from across Spain.

The national competition awards €500 to the winner, €400 to the runner-up, €300 for third place, €200 for fourth and €100 for fifth. It also includes ten additional prizes of €50 each.

The competition brings together a national photography call and a series of local contests. This year, 13 local competitions have distributed €3,900 in prizes, bringing the total prize fund for the 2026 edition to €5,900.

Photography Celebrates the Places People Love

Launched in 2021, Mi Rincón Favorito uses Instagram photography to highlight destinations, landscapes and cultural heritage throughout Spain. Participants are invited to share places with which they feel a personal connection, creating a collection of individual perspectives on the country's diverse regions.

The organisers say the project uses the visual reach of social media to encourage people to discover destinations and engage with the places that matter to them.

For Ibiza and Formentera, the five finalist photographs bring attention to the islands' coastal scenery and the distinctive light of the Mediterranean, as their creators compete for the national awards on 15 October.
