Founded by former New York interior designer Celina Wright, Esencial Hogar began as an online shop offering a carefully edited selection of globally sourced treasures. After moving from New York City back to her native El Salvador, Wright combined her background in interior design with her love of textiles, entertaining and gathering around the table.

The result is a tabletop brand with a very personal point of view.

The brand has also attracted attention from some of the most interesting names in the design and luxury space.

Over The Moon has featured Esencial Hogar extensively, including a look inside Celina Wright's own dream wedding registry and the pieces she considers essential for entertaining. Moda Operandi carries the brand and describes its designs as timeless pieces intended to make everyday meals more meaningful. ABASK has also highlighted Esencial Hogar as a maker brand, specifically drawing attention to its embroidered table linens, guest books and El Salvador connection.

Back home, El Diario de Hoy in El Salvador profiled Wright and her approach to table styling, highlighting Esencial's curated collection of pieces created by artisans and designers around the world.

But perhaps the most interesting part of the story is that Wright didn't begin in tabletop.

Her background was in luxury residential interior design in New York, where she worked with designers including Mark Cunningham and Zoe Feldman. She was also involved in launching Mark Cunningham's Marked line. That experience gave her a strong understanding of how colour, pattern, proportion and texture can change the feeling of an entire space.

She eventually brought those ideas to the dining table.
