A Local Police officer in Ibiza Town climbed the façade of a residential building to reach a 78-year-old woman who had fallen inside her home and could not get up. The rescue took place in the early hours of Saturday, 10 October, after a neighbour heard her cries for help and contacted the police.

The woman lived alone in the Ca n’Escandell neighbourhood. She was taken by ambulance to Hospital Can Misses after officers reached her and helped her while waiting for medical assistance.

Neighbour’s Call Alerts Police

The incident began at around 02:00, when the local police control room received a call from a neighbour who could hear an older woman crying out and complaining of pain inside her home.

The neighbour knew that the woman lived alone and had suffered falls previously. After trying unsuccessfully to contact her, he called the police.

A patrol was sent to the property. Officers could hear the woman’s cries for help but found that they could not enter through the main door.

Officer Climbs to Reach the Home

Concerned that the woman might have been on the floor for several hours, one of the officers decided to climb the building’s façade. A colleague helped by supporting and boosting him during the manoeuvre.

The officer reached the first-floor balcony and entered the home through a shutter. Once inside, he opened the door so the other officers and emergency medical personnel could enter.

The woman was found sitting on the bathroom floor, in pain after her fall. The officers helped her up and into a chair while arranging medical assistance.

Woman Taken to Hospital

An ambulance from the 061 emergency medical service attended the property. After assessing the woman, medical personnel transported her to Hospital Can Misses for further care.

Council Recognises Officers’ Response

Ibiza Town Council praised the speed, professionalism and personal commitment of the officers involved. It also thanked the neighbour whose call alerted the authorities and enabled the rescue operation to begin.

The council highlighted the role of the Local Police in assisting residents during emergencies, particularly older people and others who may be vulnerable or living alone.
