Ibiza Airport Exceeds 8 Million Passengers in 2026 as September Traffic Grows 2.9%

October 14, 2026

Ibiza Airport continues to record passenger growth in 2026, surpassing eight million passengers during the first nine months of the year. Traffic also increased in September, keeping the airport on course to challenge its annual passenger record, although the final result will depend on the performance of the remaining months.

According to the latest figures, the airport handled 1,262,962 passengers in September, representing a 2.9% increase compared with the same month in 2025. Between January and September, the cumulative total reached 8,041,125 passengers, up 3% year on year.

Domestic Flights Record Stronger Growth

Domestic routes recorded the strongest percentage increase in September. Connections between Ibiza and other Spanish airports accounted for 423,657 passengers, an increase of 5.9% compared with September 2025.

International routes registered 837,144 passengers, up 1.5% year on year. The United Kingdom remained the leading international market, with 312,016 passengers, followed by Italy with 146,031, Germany with 103,349 and the Netherlands with 88,418.

Commercial flights accounted for 1,260,801 passengers during the month, representing growth of 3% compared with the previous year.

Passenger Numbers Rise Despite Slight Fall in Flights

The increase in passenger traffic came alongside a small decline in aircraft movements during September.

Ibiza Airport recorded 10,487 take-offs and landings during the month, 0.2% fewer than in September 2025. However, the cumulative figure for the first nine months of the year showed growth, with 73,543 aircraft movements, an increase of 3%.

The figures indicate that passenger traffic continued to grow even as the number of aircraft movements remained broadly stable during September.

Ibiza Airport Approaches Another Annual Record

With more than eight million passengers recorded by the end of September, Ibiza Airport remains on course to challenge its annual passenger record.

The 3% increase in traffic during the first nine months provides a positive indication for the full-year total. However, the final outcome will depend on passenger numbers during the last quarter of 2026.

The figures also need to be interpreted carefully. Airport passenger statistics include both arrivals and departures, rather than counting only tourists arriving on the island. They also cover air travellers generally, not exclusively visitors staying in Ibiza.

The latest data confirms continued growth in airport activity, while the annual figures will determine whether Ibiza establishes a new passenger record in 2026.
