Spain Unveils 2026 Christmas Lottery Advert 'Corazonada', Celebrating Organ Donation and the Power of Sharing

November 07, 2026

Spain's traditional Christmas Lottery advertising campaign has returned with an emotional story about organ donation, second chances and the importance of sharing. Presented on Friday, 6 November 2026, the new advert, titled 'Corazonada', follows a heart transplant recipient whose unexpected encounter leads to a powerful connection with the family of his donor.

Produced for Loterías y Apuestas del Estado (SELAE), Spain's state-owned lottery operator, the five-minute advertisement carries the message 'Compartir nos da la vida', meaning 'Sharing gives us life'. This year's campaign places generosity and gratitude at the centre of its narrative, using the tradition of sharing Christmas Lottery tickets to explore a much deeper meaning of giving.

The Story Behind 'Corazonada'

The advertisement introduces Edu, a man who has been waiting for news of a compatible heart donor. His life changes when he finally receives the call confirming that a heart is available for his transplant.

Following the operation, Edu begins experiencing life differently. Grateful for his second chance, he becomes more spontaneous, embraces new experiences and finds joy in moments that he previously might have overlooked.

His renewed outlook eventually leads him to make an unexpected decision. After getting off a bus earlier than planned, he follows an impulse into a lottery administration and purchases the last available ticket for a particular number in the Christmas Lottery.

As he leaves the establishment, a dog approaches him, causing the ticket to fall. The dog's owner explains that the number is the one her late brother always played, and that she had come specifically to purchase it.

Realising that the number is no longer available, Edu proposes sharing his ticket with her.

He explains that someone recently shared something incredibly important with him, giving him another chance at life. As he gestures towards his heart, the connection between the two becomes clear: the woman's brother was the organ donor whose heart was transplanted into Edu.

The encounter ends with an emotional embrace, bringing together two people whose lives have been connected by an extraordinary act of generosity.

A Tribute to Organ Donation and Generosity

Beyond its connection to Spain's Christmas Lottery tradition, 'Corazonada' places organ donation at the heart of its message.

The campaign highlights the generosity of donors and their families, recognising how the decision to donate organs can give another person the opportunity to continue living.

Through Edu's story, Loterías y Apuestas del Estado also encourages viewers to reflect on gratitude, solidarity and the importance of recognising what others give to us.

The campaign was presented by SELAE president Jesús Huerta Almendro at the Real Casa de la Moneda in Madrid on 6 November.

During the presentation, Huerta highlighted generosity, the ability to share and hope as central values of Spanish society and the lottery's Christmas tradition.

Filmed in Santander, Cantabria

The five-minute advertisement was filmed in Santander, in the northern Spanish region of Cantabria.

Several recognisable locations around the city feature in the production, including El Sardinero, Cañadío and Paseo de Pereda.

The setting provides the backdrop for Edu's story, bringing together everyday scenes of city life, personal relationships and unexpected encounters.

The campaign was developed by advertising agency Proximity Madrid and has a reported production budget of €740,000.

When Is the 2026 Christmas Lottery Draw?

The Spanish Christmas Lottery, officially known as the Sorteo Extraordinario de Navidad, will take place on 22 December 2026.

This year's draw will distribute €2.87 billion in prize money, representing an increase of €98 million compared with the 2025 edition.

The annual draw remains one of Spain's most recognisable Christmas traditions, with families, friends, colleagues and communities frequently purchasing and sharing lottery tickets in the hope of winning together.

With 'Corazonada', the 2026 campaign takes that familiar tradition a step further, reminding viewers that sharing can mean much more than dividing a potential prize. Sometimes, it means giving someone else a second chance at life.
