Man Faces 27-Year Prison Request Over Alleged 15-Year Sexual Abuse of Stepdaughter in Mallorca

November 07, 2026

A man is facing a request for 27 years in prison after being accused of sexually abusing and raping his stepdaughter over approximately 15 years in Manacor, Mallorca. The allegations were heard at the Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands in Palma on Friday, 6 November 2026.

The prosecution is seeking a total of 27 years in prison for two continuing sexual offences, together with €30,000 in compensation for the alleged victim.

The woman, who gave evidence by videoconference, told the court that the alleged abuse began in 2003, when she was approximately 13 years old, and became progressively more serious.

The accused was her mother's partner, and she said she had lived with him from around the age of eight.

Allegations began when she was a teenager

According to the woman's testimony, the first incidents occurred when they were alone at home before she left for school.

She told the court that the accused began touching her intimately and that the alleged abuse subsequently escalated. From around 2005, she said, he began raping her, physically assaulting her and taking intimate photographs of her.

She also alleged that he used the photographs to threaten her, including by saying he would show them to her partner if she did not comply with his demands.

The woman told the court that some of the images were shown to other people, including during a family New Year's Eve gathering.

She also described incidents of physical violence, intimidation and coercion. On one occasion, she alleged, the accused forced her to consume cocaine before sexually assaulting her.

The woman said the alleged abuse left her with lasting psychological difficulties, including stress and problems sleeping. She described remaining alert at home because she feared the accused would enter her room.

Police officers describe her earlier reports

Several National Police officers who worked on the investigation also gave evidence during the hearing.

One officer from the Family and Women Assistance Unit (UFAM) recalled that the woman first attended a police station in 2018 and reported alleged sexual assaults by her stepfather.

According to the officer's testimony, she did not formally proceed with a complaint at that time. The police nevertheless prepared a report and sent it to a court in Manacor.

The woman returned to the police station in 2020 and formally reported the alleged assaults.

Police officers who took her statements said she described sexual abuse both during her childhood and after reaching adulthood, alongside alleged physical violence and coercion.

The investigation also examined the alleged use of intimate photographs to intimidate her. One officer recalled that the accused had allegedly sent photographs of the woman to her then-partner. That partner reportedly corroborated the account during his own testimony.

The police evidence also included the woman's account of returning to the family home as an adult for financial reasons. She alleged that the accused took advantage of the situation to continue the abuse, threatening to throw her out if she refused his demands.

Prosecution requests 27 years in prison

The Public Prosecutor's Office is seeking 27 years in prison, divided between two continuing offences.

The request comprises 15 years for a continuing offence of rape and a further 12 years for a continuing offence of sexual assault.

The prosecution is also requesting €30,000 in compensation for the psychological harm allegedly suffered by the woman.

In addition, it seeks a 20-year prohibition on the accused approaching her within 500 metres or communicating with her, as well as six years of supervised release following any prison sentence.

These are the penalties requested by the prosecution. They have not been imposed by the court.

Case heard at the Provincial Court in Palma

The hearing before the Second Section of the Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands had previously been scheduled but was postponed because of technical problems.

The proceedings resumed on 6 November with evidence from police officers involved in the investigation and testimony from the woman.

The case concerns alleged offences in Manacor, Mallorca, beginning when the complainant was a minor and continuing, according to the prosecution, into her adulthood.

The allegations remain subject to the judicial process. The prosecution's request for 27 years in prison does not represent a conviction, and the accused remains entitled to the presumption of innocence until a final judgment is delivered.
