Calvin Harris has officially entered the Guinness World Records books after an estimated 1.6 million people attended his free DJ performance in São Paulo, Brazil.

The record was set on February 8, 2026, during the city's pre-Carnival celebrations, with Harris performing from a carnival float as crowds gathered along the streets of São Paulo.

Guinness World Records has officially recognised Calvin Harris for the largest attendance for a DJ set by a single artist.

The organisation records the attendance at 1,600,000 people and lists São Paulo, Brazil as the location.

Guinness describes the crowd figure as an estimate rather than an exact headcount.

A Free Performance in São Paulo

The performance took place during São Paulo's pre-Carnival festivities.

Rather than playing inside a conventional concert venue or nightclub, Harris performed from a trio elétrico, a large mobile sound and performance platform commonly used during Brazilian street celebrations.

The vehicle travelled through the city as crowds gathered around the route.

The February 8 Performance

Harris' performance took place on February 8, 2026.

According to Guinness, the crowd gathered around Rua da Consolação near Avenida Paulista, one of São Paulo's central areas.

The scale of the audience turned the performance into a major city-wide street event, with reports of overcrowding and the closure of part of Rua da Consolação.

Guinness also notes that some attendees fainted during the event in temperatures that reached 27°C.

Calvinho Takes Over São Paulo

For the occasion, Harris embraced the Brazilian setting by wearing a Brazil football shirt with “Calvinho” written on the back.

The DJ played a selection of some of his best-known tracks during the performance, including “One Kiss”, “This Is What You Came For”, “I Need Your Love” and “We Found Love”.

The performance combined his electronic music set with the atmosphere of São Paulo's pre-Carnival celebrations.

A Record Far Beyond Conventional Club Capacity

The Guinness record highlights the extraordinary difference between a traditional DJ performance and a free, open-air street event.

Harris' regular Ibiza shows take place in a controlled venue environment, while the São Paulo performance allowed the audience to spread across a large section of the city.

Guinness currently lists Ushuaïa Ibiza as one of the venues associated with Harris' regular performances, but the record itself was achieved in Brazil.

Harris Remains a Major Presence in Ibiza

The record comes during another season in which Calvin Harris is performing regularly in Ibiza.

He continues his Friday residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza throughout the 2026 season.

The venue's official programme lists Harris for Friday, September 25, alongside MK, Storm Mollison and Siân Owen.

The residency's closing party is scheduled for Friday, October 2.

From São Paulo to Ibiza

The contrast between the two settings is striking.

In São Paulo, Harris performed for an estimated 1.6 million people during a free street celebration. In Ibiza, his regular shows take place at Ushuaïa's open-air venue as part of its weekly club programme.

The Guinness record therefore belongs specifically to his São Paulo performance and should not be confused with the attendance figures for his Ibiza residency.

The new attendance record adds to Calvin Harris' existing Guinness World Records recognition.

The organisation previously recognised him for having the most UK Top 10 singles from one studio album, with nine tracks from his 18 Months album reaching the UK Top 10.

Guinness has also recorded Harris as the highest-paid DJ in a single year for the period June 2015 to June 2016.

The official figure is 1.6 million people, based on an estimated audience at the free February 8 event.

For Ibiza, the record arrives as Harris continues his 2026 residency at Ushuaïa, where his next scheduled performance is September 25 before the final show on October 2.
