Perth singer Sacha Taylor and Dundee DJ Hannah Laing shared the stage with Armin van Buuren during the opening night of his new A State of Trance residency at [UNVRS] in Ibiza.

The September 7 event marked the beginning of Armin's five-date Monday residency at the San Rafael venue, with the Dutch DJ performing a five-hour extended set and Hannah Laing joining him for a face-to-face set.

A Scottish Link-Up in Ibiza

For Taylor and Laing, the night brought together two artists from Tayside on one of Ibiza's biggest stages.

Taylor, a Perth-born singer and songwriter, has worked with Armin van Buuren on live performances, while Laing is the Dundee DJ and founder of the Doof in the Park festival.

Taylor later described the opportunity as particularly special because the pair grew up in towns only around 15 minutes apart.

She said performing alongside Armin was an honour, but sharing the same stage and the same night with Hannah made the experience even more meaningful.

Armin's Five-Hour Set

The opening night of A State of Trance at [UNVRS] featured a five-hour extended set from Armin van Buuren.

Hannah Laing was billed for a face-to-face set with Armin in the Main Room, while Ruden de Ronde also appeared on the lineup.

The Bunker featured NRG200 and S3PPA.

Hannah Laing's Face-to-Face Set

Laing's appearance with Armin was one of the headline features of the opening night.

The format put the two DJs together in the booth for a shared set rather than separate performances.

It was another Ibiza appearance for Laing, who previously held a residency at Hï Ibiza and has continued performing at festivals and clubs internationally.

Her 2026 schedule has included shows across several European destinations as well as her own Doof in the Park event in Dundee.

Sacha Taylor's Performance

Sacha Taylor also performed during the opening night.

The Perth-born vocalist has increasingly moved into the electronic music scene, collaborating with DJs and producers and performing live alongside established dance artists.

Her previous work with Armin included a performance at Ushuaïa Ibiza in 2025, before the pair appeared together again during Doof in the Park in Dundee.

The collaboration has continued to develop through live performances and studio work.

From Perth to the Ibiza Stage

Taylor's route into dance music began after her earlier work as a hairdresser before she shifted her focus towards singing and songwriting.

Her profile grew through tracks including Higher with Nathan Dawe and Joel Corry, followed by live performances at Ibiza Rocks and other major dance events.

In 2025, she told The Courier that an invitation from Armin followed her performance with him in Ibiza and led to an appearance at Doof in the Park in her home region.

Hannah Laing's Rise in Dance Music

Laing has also built her career through a rapid move from local Scottish events into major international electronic-music bookings.

The Dundee DJ previously worked as a dental nurse before moving into music full-time.

Her Doof brand has also grown into a festival operation in Dundee, bringing major electronic acts to her home city.

In 2025, Armin van Buuren appeared at the first Doof in the Park, where he performed alongside Laing and other artists.

A Special Moment for Two Scottish Artists

Taylor's comments after the Ibiza performance focused on the unusual connection between the two artists.

She said that seeing Laing perform while also sharing the same stage with Armin made the night an emotional one.

Laing replied to Taylor's post by describing the performance as a memorable moment and expressing her excitement at seeing Taylor perform with Armin.

Armin's Ibiza Residency Continues

The opening night was the first of five Monday events at [UNVRS].

Armin's residency runs from September 7 through October 5, with the DJ scheduled to perform five-hour sets throughout the series.  

The September 21 edition featured Argy for a face-to-face set, followed by the September 28 event with Funk Tribu.

The residency closes on Monday, October 5, with Armin's final five-hour performance. 

More Scottish Connections on Ibiza's Dancefloor

The appearance of Taylor and Laing together adds another Scottish connection to Ibiza's electronic-music scene.

Both artists have built careers that move between local Scottish audiences and international dance events.

Their shared appearance at [UNVRS] also continues a working relationship that has already taken them from Ibiza to Scotland and onto festival stages.

From Ibiza to Dundee

The connection between Taylor, Laing and Armin is not new.

Taylor previously joined Armin at Doof in the Park after an earlier Ibiza performance, while Laing hosted the Dundee festival where the Dutch DJ appeared.

The September 7 [UNVRS] performance brought those connections back together in Ibiza.

A State of Trance Marks 25 Years

Armin's residency is part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of A State of Trance.

The project began in 2001 and has grown from a radio programme into a global electronic-music brand.

[UNVRS] has built the Ibiza residency around extended sets, guest collaborations and a production designed specifically for the venue. 

The Next Dates

The next A State of Trance event at [UNVRS] takes place on Monday, September 28.

Armin van Buuren will perform another five-hour set, with Funk Tribu joining him for a face-to-face performance and Ginchy also on the Main Room lineup.

The Bunker will feature Lawton and MDDLTN.

The residency concludes on October 5. 

A Memorable Ibiza Night
