Ibiza will host a new youth congress in November focused on prevention, addictions, technology and decision-making, with up to 600 students expected to take part.

The first edition of SUPERA will take place on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at Teatro Pereyra in Ibiza and is being organised by Asociación Vívete.

Nearly 400 places had already been requested within the first week of registration, highlighting the initial interest from educational centres on the island.

A Congress Focused on Prevention

SUPERA has been created as a meeting point for young people, schools, families, professionals, institutions and businesses.

The aim is to provide teenagers with information and practical tools to recognise risks, reflect on their habits and make decisions with greater awareness.

The programme will focus on two broad areas: alcohol and drug use, and the relationship between young people and mobile phones, social networks and digital technology.

Organisers say the emphasis will be on prevention and reflection rather than simply telling teenagers how they should behave.

Pedro García Aguado to Speak About Addictions

One of the main speakers will be Pedro García Aguado, former elite water-polo player and a prominent Spanish public speaker on addiction and recovery.

García Aguado will draw on his personal and professional experiences to discuss addictions, decision-making and regaining control.

His presentation is built around the message “Eres más fuerte que tu excusa”, or “You are stronger than your excuse”.

Marc Masip to Address Technology Use

Psychologist Marc Masip will provide the second main perspective at the congress.

Masip specialises in problematic technology use and will focus on the relationship between young people, mobile phones and social media.

His presentation will examine how digital tools can become dominant in everyday life and encourage young people to consider how they use technology.

One of the messages associated with his participation is that young people should use their phones rather than allowing the phones to control their behaviour.

Alcohol and Cannabis Among Spanish Students

The organisers have placed the event against the backdrop of national data on substance use among teenagers.

Spain's latest ESTUDES survey found that alcohol remains the most commonly consumed psychoactive substance among students aged 14 to 18.

According to the 2025 survey, 51.8% said they had consumed alcohol during the previous 30 days.

The same survey found that 21.0% had consumed cannabis at some point in their lives.

These are national figures for students aged 14 to 18 and are not specific to Ibiza.

Problematic Social Media Use Has Increased

Digital behaviour is another central theme of SUPERA.

The World Health Organization's European regional office reported that the proportion of adolescents showing signs of problematic social-media use increased from 7% in 2018 to 11% in 2022.

The findings come from the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children study, which surveyed almost 280,000 young people aged 11, 13 and 15 across 44 countries and regions in Europe, Central Asia and Canada.

The WHO describes problematic social-media use as difficulty controlling use and experiencing negative consequences. It is not the same as saying that all frequent mobile-phone or social-media users have an addiction.

A Different Format for Prevention

Vívete says SUPERA is intended to move beyond the traditional classroom talk.

The organisation wants students to take part in a wider conversation involving education, families, professionals and other sectors of the island's community.

The event is also intended to create material and discussion that can continue after the congress, including through work in schools and among students themselves.

More Than 7,000 Young People Since 2017

SUPERA builds on Vívete's previous educational work.

According to the organisation, more than 7,000 young people from Ibiza and Formentera have taken part in its different activities and programmes since 2017.

Those projects have addressed subjects including emotions, values, attitudes and how young people respond to different situations in everyday life.

The new congress brings that experience into a more specific prevention-focused format.

Support From Ibiza Businesses and Institutions

Several Ibiza organisations have already backed the project.

Supporters named by the organisers include Pikes, Blue Marlin, Fundación Abel Matutes and Sant Antoni Town Hall.

Vívete says it is continuing discussions with additional companies and institutions interested in participating.

The organisers describe this wider involvement as important because youth prevention also involves families, schools, businesses and public authorities.

Students Will Receive a Prevention Toolkit

Students attending SUPERA will also receive a small “Kit de Supervivencia para la Realidad Digital, las Sustancias y el Bienestar”.

The material is designed to complement the day's discussions and provide participants with practical ideas for navigating digital technology, substance-related risks and personal wellbeing.

The organisers want the content to remain useful after students return to their schools.

Free for Participating Schools

Participation in the congress will be free for students from participating educational centres thanks to the support of the organisations backing the event.

Registration for schools remains open, with the venue offering capacity for 600 students.

The first-week demand of almost 400 requested places means a significant proportion of the available capacity had already been sought when the event was announced on September 21.
