Ibiza JoySail has completed its sixth edition after three days of racing across the waters of Ibiza and Formentera, bringing together 19 superyachts for a final weekend of competition on the Mediterranean.

The 2026 regatta took place from September 17 to 20, with the opening day's racing cancelled after an orange weather alert. Competition then got underway with three consecutive days of racing, taking the fleet from a round-the-island course around Formentera to the waters off Es Vedrà and finally along the Ibiza coastline.

Three Days of Racing

The first raceable day took the fleet around the southeastern part of Formentera on a 21.43-nautical-mile course.

With winds initially around 13 knots, the yachts completed the course in less than three hours.

The second racing day moved the action to Ibiza, with an 18.15-nautical-mile coastal course that took the fleet past Punta de Port Roig, Cabo Negret, Cabo de la Torre, Cabo Jueu and Es Vedrà.

The final race covered around 16 nautical miles, starting off Cabo Martinet and finishing near Talamanca Beach.

MOAT Extends Its Perfect Record

MOAT once again claimed victory in the Performance class.

The yacht's sixth Ibiza JoySail title means it has won the Performance category in every edition of the regatta since the event began.

Although MOAT finished second in the final race behind Gelliceaux, its earlier results had already secured the overall title.

Gelliceaux finished second overall, with WinWin taking third.

WINWIN Takes Cruising 1

WINWIN secured the overall victory in Cruising 1 by a single point over Gelliceaux.

The winning yacht recorded two first-place finishes and a second, while Gelliceaux recorded two second places and a first.

Kalantis completed the class podium after moving ahead of Liberty Squared in the final race.

For WINWIN, the result represented its first victory at Ibiza JoySail.

CERVO Dominates Cruising 2

CERVO produced the strongest series of results in Cruising 2, winning all three races in the class.

Bella finished second overall, overtaking Kiboko after the latter was unable to complete the final race.

Kiboko therefore finished third in the final Cruising 2 standings.

Bella also took the Corinthian title in the class.

POINT COUNTER POINT Leads from Start to Finish

Cruising 3 was controlled throughout by POINT COUNTER POINT.

The yacht led the class from the opening race through to the final standings, while the battle for the remaining podium places continued behind it.

Rose finished second overall, two points behind the winner, with Nefertiti taking third.

Ocho claimed the Corinthian title in the class.

NOSTROMO Wins World Cruising

The World Cruising class provided one of the closest finishes of the regatta.

Nostromo entered the final race behind the early leader Aurelius but secured victory by winning the concluding race.

That result moved Nostromo to the top of the overall classification, with Aurelius finishing second and Atalante third.

19 Superyachts Competed

The 2026 fleet consisted of 19 sailing yachts ranging from 80 to 147 feet.

The boats were divided into five groups: Performance, Cruising 1, Cruising 2, Cruising 3 and World Cruising.

The fleet included yachts from several of the world's specialist sailing-boat builders, continuing Ibiza JoySail's focus on a mixture of high-performance and cruising yachts.

Racing Around Ibiza and Formentera

One of the defining features of the regatta is the variety of its courses.

The 2026 fleet sailed around Formentera, raced in the waters surrounding Ibiza and passed some of the Pitiusas' best-known coastal landmarks.

The contrasting courses required crews to adapt their tactics and sail plans from one day to the next.

The final race also brought the fleet close to the Ibiza coastline, providing a finish near Talamanca Beach.

Weather Played a Part

Weather conditions had a direct impact on this year's programme.

The orange weather alert issued on September 17 meant that the fleet remained berthed at Marina Ibiza and the opening day's racing was cancelled.

The regatta was then able to continue over the following three days, allowing the organisers to complete the planned competition programme.

A Regatta Built Around Sailing and Social Events

Ibiza JoySail combines competitive racing with a social programme for owners, crews, families and guests.

The event is organised by STP Shipyard Palma and Marina Ibiza, with the participation of Club Náutico de Ibiza and Real Club Náutico de Palma and under the framework of the Superyacht Racing Association.

Alongside the racing, participants took part in dinners and other activities at Marina Ibiza throughout the event.

The Pitiusas Provide the Setting

The regatta uses Ibiza and Formentera as its racing ground, putting the fleet against a backdrop of the islands' coastline and surrounding waters.

From the approach to Formentera to the passages near Es Vedrà and the final run along Ibiza's eastern coastline, the event uses different sections of the Pitiusas to create varied racing conditions.

That combination of competitive sailing and the island setting has become central to the identity of Ibiza JoySail.

Looking Ahead to 2027

The sixth edition may now be complete, but the event is already looking towards next year.

The seventh Ibiza JoySail has been confirmed for September 16 to 19, 2027.

The organisers will now begin preparations for another edition, continuing the invitation-only format and the combination of superyacht racing and social activities.
