Santa Eulària's public gardens and green spaces have received a strong satisfaction rating in a survey commissioned by the Town Hall, with 92.5% of respondents saying they were very or fairly satisfied with the cleanliness, planting and overall condition of the municipality's gardens.

The survey questioned 400 people across 15 locations in the municipality during June, providing the Town Hall with feedback on how residents and visitors perceive the maintenance of its public green spaces.

Residents Make Up Almost 80% of Those Surveyed

The survey sample was made up mainly of people who regularly use Santa Eulària's gardens and landscaped areas.

Almost eight in 10 respondents were residents of the municipality, while the remainder were visitors and other users of the public spaces.

Satisfaction among local residents also exceeded 92% across the main aspects assessed in the survey.

The Town Hall commissioned the study to better understand perceptions of its gardening services and establish indicators that can be used to monitor the quality of green-space maintenance.

More Plants, Flowers and Shade Requested

The survey also gave participants the opportunity to suggest improvements.

Almost half of those surveyed submitted at least one suggestion.

The most common requests included adding more vegetation, flowers and colour, creating additional shaded areas and reinforcing some maintenance work during the summer months.

The feedback provides the municipality with a list of priorities from people who regularly use its parks, gardens and landscaped public areas.

136 New Trees and 908 Shrubs Added

Santa Eulària has already been expanding its green spaces this year.

A municipal programme announced in May involved the planting of 136 trees and 908 shrubs across different parts of the municipality.

The new planting was designed to replace trees affected by drought and water stress, increase vegetation in parks and public spaces and create additional areas of shade.

The municipality selected Mediterranean species and plants with lower water requirements, with the aim of creating green areas better adapted to local climate conditions.

Planting Across Several Areas

The planting programme has been distributed across several villages and urban areas.

In Jesús, 56 trees and 560 shrubs are being planted, while Puig d'en Valls is receiving 35 trees and 88 shrubs.

Santa Gertrudis is receiving 15 trees, Santa Eulària 13 trees and 120 shrubs, and Sant Carles 13 trees and 40 shrubs.

The Town Hall has also been introducing measures to reduce water consumption in landscaped areas, including ground coverings designed to reduce evaporation and help retain moisture in the soil.

Creating More Comfortable Public Spaces

The new planting is part of a wider approach to creating green areas that can provide shade and help reduce the effects of high temperatures.

The municipality describes these spaces as bioclimatic refuges, designed to contribute to environmental and social wellbeing.

The strategy also focuses on choosing plant species that are better adapted to Mediterranean conditions and require less water.

Exploring Santa Eulària's Botanical Heritage

The survey results coincide with the municipality's efforts to encourage greater interest in its plant heritage.

Santa Eulària has a digital botanical trail using QR codes installed at 22 points around the municipality.

Visitors and residents can scan the codes with their phones to discover information about local Mediterranean flora, individual garden locations and the plants found within them.

A Digital Guide to the Municipality's Plants

The botanical project was launched in August 2025 and was developed as part of the municipality's sustainable gardening programme.

The 22 stops provide information about the history of each location, identify representative plant species and include details about characteristics, water requirements and their presence in municipal gardens.

The municipality has also created a georeferenced database covering its public gardens, with information on thousands of trees, shrubs and plants.

More Than 2,200 Botanical Trail Sessions

The information accompanying the latest survey reports that the botanical tool recorded 2,266 sessions between January 2025 and June 24, 2026.

The figures indicate that the digital trail has attracted interest from both local users and people accessing the information from outside Spain.

Mexico recorded 60 sessions, Argentina 53 and Germany 43 among the foreign countries identified in the figures.

These numbers provide an indication of online interest in the municipality's plant heritage, although they measure digital sessions rather than the number of individual visitors to the gardens.

Gardens Used by Residents and Visitors

Santa Eulària's green spaces serve a mixture of everyday and tourism-related purposes.

For residents, gardens and landscaped public areas provide places for walking, relaxation, shade and outdoor activities.

For visitors, they offer another way to experience the municipality beyond its beaches and coastline, particularly through the botanical trail and the information provided at its different locations.

Sustainability Remains a Focus

Water use is an important consideration for maintaining public gardens in Ibiza's Mediterranean climate.

The municipality's current gardening strategy therefore includes lower-water plant species and measures intended to reduce evaporation and improve soil moisture retention.

These initiatives are designed to maintain attractive public spaces while adapting gardening practices to conditions of drought and water stress.

What Residents Want to See Next

The survey's suggestions show that satisfaction does not mean there is no demand for improvements.

Residents and other users are asking for more flowers and vegetation, additional shade and stronger maintenance during the hottest part of the year.

The feedback gives the Town Hall a clearer picture of the areas where users would like further improvements, alongside the positive overall assessment of existing maintenance.

A Green-Space Network Across the Municipality

Santa Eulària manages an extensive network of public gardens and landscaped areas spread across its different villages and urban centres.

The municipality's botanical database covers more than 80,000 square metres of municipal gardens and records thousands of individual plants and trees.

The combination of physical improvements, new planting, digital information and public feedback forms part of a broader approach to managing these spaces.

A Positive Assessment With Room for Improvement

The 92.5% satisfaction figure gives Santa Eulària a positive assessment from the residents and visitors included in the survey.

At the same time, the suggestions gathered from respondents show where users would like to see further investment, particularly in shade, planting and seasonal maintenance.

With additional trees and shrubs being introduced and the municipality continuing to develop its botanical trail, Santa Eulària is combining public feedback with ongoing work to maintain and expand its green spaces.

The survey therefore offers both a positive snapshot of how the municipality's gardens are currently perceived and a list of areas where residents and visitors would like to see further improvements.
