This Thursday, October 22, 2026, visitors can explore the Picarol retrospective at Sa Nostra Sala in Ibiza Town, Mariana Eiras's Confluencias at Can Jordi Blues Station in Sant Josep, Nilda Ventura's Agradeciendo at Jesús Cultural Centre, Sara Michela Morello's Art a l'instant at Puig d'en Valls Cultural Centre, and Neus Riera's Almànguenes at Far de ses Coves Blanques in Sant Antoni.
These five exhibitions offer different perspectives on Ibiza's artistic and cultural identity, from historical drawings and caricatures to abstract painting, expressive figurative art, contemporary illustrations and ceramics inspired by traditional island materials.
1. Picarol: 150 Years of an Ibizan Artist at Sa Nostra Sala
The life and legacy of Josep Costa Ferrer, better known as Picarol, are celebrated in a retrospective at Sa Nostra Sala in Ibiza Town, marking the 150th anniversary of his birth.
Born in Ibiza in 1876, Picarol developed a multifaceted career as a draftsman, caricaturist, cultural promoter and entrepreneur. His work captured aspects of society and cultural life, while his professional activities extended beyond illustration into creative and business initiatives.
The exhibition brings together 66 works, primarily from the collection of documentary researcher Carles Prats Puyalto, who co-curated the retrospective with philologist Joan-Albert Ribas. More than 40 historical documents accompany the artwork, including posters, plans, maps, books and illustrations published in satirical magazines.
The collection offers a broader picture of Picarol's career, presenting him not only as a caricaturist but also as an important figure in Ibiza's artistic and cultural history.
The exhibition opened on October 15 and continues until November 14. Visitors can also look out for the accompanying conference programme, with the next presentation scheduled for Friday, October 23, at 19:00.

2. Confluencias by Mariana Eiras at Can Jordi Blues Station
Contemporary abstract painting takes centre stage at Can Jordi Blues Station, where Argentine artist Mariana Eiras presents Confluencias, an exhibition exploring the meeting points between contrasting elements.
The works examine how opposites can attract, overlap and transform into something new. Through colour, texture and composition, Eiras explores the spaces between apparent contradictions, creating paintings that invite viewers to interpret the relationships between their different visual elements.
Rather than offering a single fixed meaning, the exhibition encourages personal interpretation. The paintings explore the tension between differences while suggesting that contrasting forces can exist together and influence one another.
The exhibition opened on Wednesday, October 21, and continues until December 7, giving visitors an opportunity to discover contemporary art in an informal setting outside Ibiza's main gallery spaces.
Can Jordi Blues Station is a popular local venue along the road between Ibiza Town and Sant Josep, known for its music programme and relaxed atmosphere. Visitors planning a special trip should confirm access to the exhibition space directly with the venue.

3. Agradeciendo by Nilda Ventura at Jesús Cultural Centre
Nilda Ventura's Agradeciendo continues at Jesús Cultural Centre, presenting a collection of expressive figurative works that explore emotion and human experience through colour and composition.
The exhibition reflects Ventura's interest in people, identity and the diversity of human experience. Her paintings are characterised by an expressive visual language, with strong colours and textured surfaces that give the figures a distinctive presence.
Ventura's artistic journey also reflects a connection between her Argentine roots and her life in Ibiza, where she has developed her practice through further artistic training and creative exploration.
The exhibition opened on October 15 and remains on display until October 30. Its weekday opening hours include both a morning and an afternoon session, allowing visitors to fit the exhibition into a broader itinerary around Jesús and Santa Eulària.
For anyone interested in contemporary figurative painting, Agradeciendo offers an opportunity to discover an artist whose work places expression and personal interpretation at the centre.

4. Art a l'instant by Sara Michela Morello at Puig d'en Valls Cultural Centre
Visitors have one of the final opportunities to see Art a l'instant by Sara Michela Morello, an exhibition of drawings capturing the landscapes, architecture and everyday moments of Ibiza and Formentera.
The exhibition presents a personal artistic interpretation of the Pityusic Islands, using drawing as a way to record and reinterpret familiar places. Morello's work focuses on observation, revealing details that might otherwise be overlooked during everyday life.
The collection invites visitors to look at the islands through the artist's perspective, moving between landscapes, coastal scenes and architectural details. Its subtitle, La fórmula màgica Eivissa-Formentera, reflects the special connection between the two islands.
Morello studied fine arts in Italy and works with mixed techniques. Her practice explores the relationship between observation and artistic expression, translating the places around her into visual impressions.
Organised by Santa Eulària Town Council, the exhibition opened on October 9 and closes on Friday, October 23. Thursday, October 22, is therefore one of the final days to visit.

5. Almànguenes by Neus Riera, Known as Riqueta, at Far de ses Coves Blanques
Ceramics, traditional materials and the changing identity of Ibiza come together in Almànguenes, the first solo exhibition by Ibizan ceramic artist Neus Riera, known as Riqueta.
The exhibition takes its name from almànguena, a traditional name for almagre, a naturally occurring reddish pigment used historically in Ibiza and Formentera. The material was traditionally applied to cisterns, water reservoirs, washing areas and the walls of rural homes.
Riera uses this material and its cultural associations as a starting point for exploring identity, belonging and transformation. Her ceramic works combine organic forms and experimental glazes, reinterpreting traditional references through a contemporary artistic language.
The exhibition considers how identity is formed through layers of inherited traditions, personal experiences and new influences. It also reflects on the way materials connected with everyday island life can preserve traces of the past while taking on new meanings.
The setting adds another layer of local history. Far de ses Coves Blanques, the former lighthouse in Sant Antoni, opened in 1897 and remained in operation until 1963. The restored building now serves as a municipal exhibition space near the waterfront.
Almànguenes opened on October 16 and runs until October 31, with free admission during the published visiting hours.
